Introducing F4 Foils

Cool, yes I’ve found more HA tails to blow out, where the stubbier shape doesn’t blow out it more releases predictably, I think a rougher less refined shape means it goes earlier and more smoothly? A theory. In any case that stab looks great.

Hi.

The surf tails are lower aspect ratio, however have profiles with sections that work with high angles of attack so good for turning and for pumping. They are curved down so they will stay immersed and remain attached in more situations.

Is the RC mast HM and the AX UHM?

is the website down? won’t work for me here in bali (tried vpns also)

Hi,

We use the same layups in the RC and AX masts as our world cup racing masts. Our team is riding is what we sell, there are no custom masts.

Thx,

Chris

Hi Chris,

How do you compare the lift of Gorge and Manta?

Does anybody in the US have recent experience with a purchase direct from F4? I’m curious about shipping and duties/tariffs etc. Is there anyone here who has made a recent purchase and can share their experience?

Hi,

We developed the gorge series for windsurf/ wing. These are amazing freeride wings for powered wind sports. However have nowhere close to the glide and pump of the mantas or orcas or the low end. We are still using the gorge series, but generally have pivoted from windsurf foils. I’m not sure we have any stock left of those…

Br,

Chris

I would just get it from me if you can. It’s already in the USA.

We order from the F4 website. First come first serve with lots of incoming stock.

So typically the same or faster with me.

No surprise duties.

If you need something special please ask.

I ordered from Dylan/Kite Puerto Rico. Web site says allow up to 2 weeks. Seems about right. 8 days after ordering, it was sitting in customs. Customs has been slow. It should ship to me from PR, right at 2 weeks from order. So Monday, if not for the holiday Monday.

Hi,

Shipping, tariffs, and the drop in the value of the dollar have been a huge nightmare for the whole industry I think. We’ve been trying to bring more into the US to mitigate, however all the above are causing some issues.

Look at this rocketship that just showed up…
800 Orca 110 xs tail and 82cm super skinny super stiff tuttle mast will be going in the water tomorrow.
Cheers to F4 for investing in a tuttle mast and helping drive the industry forward.

Hi,

Awesome!! Check the fit in the board. Screw angles are different in some Tuttle boards and there isn’t that much hole clearance!!

I managed to order some F4 foils, while im waiting, can anyone advise on the correct screws I would need? I suppose the FW to Mast screws is the one that I should be replacing, is there a specific brand or grade that I should buy to ensure the screws don’t snap? Im a little worried about this so I want to have a lot of spare screws and to not use the screws for more than like 20 sessions before replacing. Also are titanium screws advised? Or are they more prone to breaking?

Titanium screws work harden worse than A4-70 stainless. Work hardening is when flexing makes it brittle and it snaps. You don’t want that. Titanium also bites and galls when screwed into stainless inserts. Further reducing its life and increasing risk. Why Armstrong makes Titanium work, is because the inerst are Titanium and the screws are stainless. The screws threads get damaged with age from the titanium inserts, but no big deal, because you just toss the screws. When it’s reversed, titanium screw and stainless inserts, you cannot easily replace the stainless inserts after years of abuse from the titanium screw on its thread. Search out certified A4-70 stainless screws. I really think Armstrong doing titanium, and then customers saying me too, was bad for customers of other brands.

I buy my screws from Accu.co.uk. But any shop that has A4-70 is good.

Just recently bought a bag of 50 screws of each size, so I have for my mates also. Saves on shipping and cost.

35mm for fuse to mast, and 25mm for connecting the stab.

Also recommend the Wera stainless screwdriver. F4 sells them, and also Accu.

I also bought from Accu.co.uk. This is the type of industrial suppler you want. With certified specs on their screws. Pre Covid I could buy from them and they shipped to US via UPS air for $10. Those were the days!

Have you had the chance to try the tuttle mast? Just saw Ken Adgate on F4 Instagram with Chris, showing his setup with the same mast.

Have placed a pre-order on a tuttle mast myself, and hopefully also a board to go with it.

Have previously had 101 and 106cm tuttle masts, and a big fan of tuttle.

We just had an amazing day testing with downwind, wing and kite. Amazing with all wings. We are incredibly happy with performance and stiffness!! But, just getting started with Tuttle masts for all segments!!

Keep the froth going!

This mast will be available on the website shortly!!

Thx
