Introducing F4 Foils

Idk, I’m kinda holding out for the smaller code X foils. Those guys live and breathe surfing so I’m more curious/confident in what code will put out for the surf.

I love my code plus mast and connection for control, stiffness, build quality. Unless I start hearing amazing things about the manta, albeit smaller sample size, I’ll probably go with the 700x

Yeah Dylan/Kite PR is the most unbiased advice you’ll get on these two brands at least. Faster than prime two day shipping is just a bonus

Cedrus will come out with an integrated one and you can just get the adapter.

Cheers Tanner, the Flow Mini Pod also looks like another great option besides an integrated mast.

Pretty sure I’ll grab a Manta 850 once available, btw wingspan is approx. 85cm - thanks to @Chrisrad99 for the info.

Can anyone confirm what torx bits are needed for the F4 plate mast hardware (I think it is M8), and the M6 foil hardware? T45 and T30?

M8 Torx 40

I got three M6x35mm bolts that came with the Orca 685. I later got the 75 cm AX mast that came with three M6x30mm bolts. Which do I use?

I had several grade 5 titanium M6x35mm bolts that I also tried and in the middle insert, it bottoms out with about 1-2mm left (other two go all the way in). For some reason the stainless steel M6x35mm appears to go all the way in without bottoming out, but now I’m worried it’s applying pressure to the bottom of the insert. Is 30 mm long enough?

I would not go ahead and tell you to use 30mm.
Not sure why the mast came with 30mm bolts. Usually mast does not come with any hardware that im aware of. Are the 30mm Titanium or SS?

You should be using the 35mm bolts that were in-fact provided by F4 with the front foil.

The 30mm are SS. Not sure why they were included. I thought maybe the 75cm mast had shorter inserts?

The titanium bolts were from other setups that I thought I’d try out. But for whatever reason, the middle bolt won’t go all the way and I don’t want to force it too hard. Side by side with the 35mm SS it appears pretty much the same, so that’s why I was worried about how close the 35mm was to the bottom.

Tighten down the center bolt with the 35mm they sent. And check if there is any play. If not you are fine.

Where did you get the set up? From F4 direct?

feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Yep, direct from F4. Thanks Dylan!

Hi,

There are some variations in the fuselage thickness on different wing planes, however the 35mm should fit. If it doesn’t check the threaded holes and see if there is any debris in there - sand or anything - pick it out if you find anything….let me know how it goes. Chris

Sorry this took awhile. I’ve had a bit going on lately.

This is my 2 Cents, on the 635 Manta as a surf foil.

Great vid and riding! How do you find the Manta vs the Duotone Crest? Thanks

Impressive! Great breakdown. I wonder how the 635 will go for me at 67Kgs. Planning on primarily using in bumps with the PW. Seems like I should be able to pump quite well if you can get around so well at your weight.

Could be a good foil for that, Let me know how it goes.

I rode a 980(?) Crest once and really enjoyed it. I could point out why I like the Manta more but most of those points could be down to the size. It’s hard to compare with out more time on a crest in a more comparable size

Hi.
Has anyone tried Orcas in wind chop waves like we have in Adriatic Sea. Small, short, steep bumps with low energy. Avg. wind 15-17 knots. What size is recommended for this conditions for beginner in downwind journey at 77kg with PW?

Me and a friend of mine use the Orcas in Norwegian fjords. Small bumps, and only wind driven. I am 90 kg, and do wingfoil upwind/downwind. Getting into parawing, with one session so far.

My buddy is around 70kg and does only parawing and SUP DW. Usually parawing upwind, and then SUP downwind.

I have all the sizes, and use the 800 the most. My buddy have the 1050 and 1250, but only feel the need for the 1050 for paddle ups. Should probably have gotten a 800 as well.

The Orcas usually surprises people with how good low end they have compared to the size.
