Carve 20 and extender

Or you can try with a custom fuselage.
I’m happy with the FoilParts short and the KD15R or AFS 38 HA.

I think the flow tail is a similar take on the carve plus the extender. That new Florence 20x also seems like the carve with an extended fuse.

Exactly what I’m after. Will grab one for sure

21 flow is the best tail. The carve is difficult without an extender.

Haven’t tried the new x tail though

Any real life feedback on this Florence x pyzel board? Considering purchasing one to prone paddle into unbroken waves - but I’m 150 lbs and 60L seems high to just prone paddle into waves. Curious about the same dimensions at 40ish liters. Although 60L would allow multi purpose for wing / para at my weight.

nothing worse than pads that don’t go rail to rail is my 2c

Not concerned about the pads interested in flight feedback mahalos

It’s annoying that on their website it’s the only tail with no length measurement, the 20X

Keen to see the AR’s of the larger sizes, hopefully like Codes R (~13AR) lines. Don’t mind the width if they go faster and glide for ages

Has anyone here winged on anything smaller than the 90HA? I’m keen to hear if there’s a fast flat-water Lift Foils setup that works well. I’m currently on the 90HA with a 26 Carve, and my next step will be dropping to the new Florence tail (basically a smaller Carve without the extender nonsense).

The photoshopped photo i posted above is true to the length. I have a few sessions on the 20x - love it so far. Seems identical to the 20 carve with extender but about 1 in shorter fuse

Nice find, some bigger downwind foils would be sweet! I wonder how these would be positioned vs the existing HAs? The 150 already follows the pattern in AR reduction as the foils get bigger.

Cool to see a photo of myself on the second last page  (FWIW I am not sponsored by lift)

The Florence 21X tail pairs really well with the 90HA, that’s all I use with the 90.

I also have an LCX72, it’s quite a bit faster than the 90, but also requires a lot more speed to get on foil, it requires a planning hull board, displacement won’t work. I use it with a glide 25.
I also have a Kaikea77 (bought it 3 months ago, still no info on the Lift website!), it’s a little faster than the HA90, has pretty good lift and is super stable, the fuse between the front wing and the mast is a little longer than the other foils, and it has more dihedral. There’s also a Kaikea63 out there.

I have never tried the HA70 but it might be an interesting one to go fast. The HA90 has a crazy amount of lift for its size, if the HA70 is the same it shouldn’t be too hard to get on foil.

For pure top speed, I think the Lift foils are less stable than dedicated freerace foils. I’ve tried a Duotone Blitz 500, and it was super easy to ride fast compared to my small Lift foils, it was like being on rails. Getting on foil required a lot of speed too though.
I’d like to try a Glide 36 tail with the LCX72, it will add drag but it might make it more stable and easier to push harder. All the wing race foils have pretty large stabs.
I also wish the Lift masts were thinner (~13mm) and that they could redesign the fuse which is super thick due to the long doodle they use, it must add a significant amount of drag. I wonder if they could make a 2-piece doodle (with shuffle pins to mate the 2 parts). Smaller foils would only use the first half of the doodle and have a thinner fuse, larger foils would use the full doodle.

Winging my 90HA with the Florence 20X. It’s going great and I’m very happy with the combo.

I am also in the same boat! I love my lift gear and have two setups.

But I feel like I am in a gap in their current lineup of wings. I would love to hear your thoughts on which wing to look at next or what combo to try in my next session.

Here is the gear I currently have
Front wings, 120HA, 170HA, Surf 150v2
Tail Wings, Glide 25, Glide 32, Carve 26
Masts, 32”,28”

  1. My go-to wake foil setup is 28”, 120HA, and the Carve 26 with the 3” extension.
  2. Go to foil drive set up 32”, 170HA, Carve 26 + 3” extension (Mostly wake thieving)

I absolutely love how quick the 120 rolls and responds. Here is what I don’t like about it: after riding a newer Armstrong HAv2 880, I can’t seem to notice a significant lack in the low-end range of this wing. When it’s powered up, it rips, and I can pump all over. But as soon as I drop my mast down into the water, I struggle to recover my pump.

On the other hand, I love my 170HA for the pump. At 145 lbs, I can pump it all over, and with the Carve tail, it wakes up this foil in the turns and is pretty fun, but feels really slow compared to the Armstrong HA and 120

I want to find the wing that bridges the gap i currently have. I want the turn and quickness of the 120 HA with a bit more pump ability.

In my mind, something like the new code 850S seems to be in line with the numbers I would pick in a perfect world. However, I struggle to justify selling all my current lift gear and then rebuying it from a new brand.

I have my eyes on the 130 Florence as it seems to be the closest thing Lift has, but I haven’t had any chance to try it out. It seems to me that it’s more focused on the downwind side of things, like their HAX wings, but maybe I’m off base and they turn better than the wingspan numbers would lead me to believe..

I’d love to hear what you guys think I should try out or if it is worth making the switch.

The 130 is a fairly fast wing, in my experience it will feel much quicker and more efficient than the armstrong 880, but at the expense of some of the low end. The 130 does have more glide than the 120, but is less turny. I would give the 150hax a go if you want something that pumps arround but has more range then the 170 (which is pretty old at this point), its essentially a scaled up 120.

Yeah that’s how I feel! The 170 has been an amazing wing but nearing the end of its lifespan.

Do you know the real wingspan on the 150hax?

The website has some conflicting info.

42.5” seems super wide

Yea thats wrong, Its 39”.
Easy to calculate also (39)^2 / 150 = 10.1 AR

gotcha! I might have to give that one a go. I have a friend who has one. I saw 42.5 and thought that’s gonna be way too big.
