There’s a lot of different brand of foilboard on the market but which one is known to be durable as bomb proof brand out there?
Appletree factory= Appletree (self branded), Omen, Ozone
Yeah, EPS is garbage and Appletree is the only brand not using EPS.
Are we taking prone boards or wing or DW? I feel like the Appletree construction is great on prone(but they lack great designs - portal Appletree collab please) and is good for a smaller wing board but for higher volume boards the foam weight vs EPS becomes a performance issue.
I love my Portal prone board. The thing is so light and stiff, many bumps and never any damage.
I had an Appletree, and put my elbow straight through it on a wipeout. Yes I know it doesn’t really matter if water gets in with their foam… but I was still surprised it dinged so badly in what wasn’t a massive crash.
My DW board is Amos and I love it. It’s done a full gorge season of almost daily shuttles crammed in the back of vans/trucks, rock hopping, pavement & gravel rests, knocked over in the wind etc. Totally fine.
Recent new wing board is a Vince Broglio shape out of Santa Cruz. Lightweight, stiff, and beautiful - but doesn’t feel like the most robust board. It’s one I plan to take good care of. But for $1200 and fully custom in 2-4 weeks… Love it.
+1 for Portal being super strong and light. Amundson is also rock solid and light
Yeah, the Appletree boards aren’t impervious to dings, it’s just that when they are dinged they’re still impervious to water.
