And have to add the track box or board. Sevond 2p battery is another $3k us
As a prone foiler, I thought the Amp board concept was the way to go specifically as I was affraid of the prop. Once you accept the risk of the prop and learn to foil around the lineup on power, youâd never want the worst of the two product: a prop not shutting off immediately, and a heavy powered board that canât stay on foil.
Thats was the idea but the amp concept does not appear to have caught on. I think its because the prop allows you to exploit non breaking waves much farther away from the lineup. In that context the prop feels safer than dealing with a sharp foil/stab in breaking waves and whitewater. Weight is not a factor between prop and jet because they both carry batteries and a motor - around 5kg over a prone setup. So, if you can take off on a wave with a prone setup why carry the extra weight of an amp system? People using props may pump a little to show they can, but they are largely motoring back out to get the next sets. In my spot we are motoring out 100-200 meters and pulling off the wave just before the surfer lineups.
I was told US orders for Riift will be shipped from within the US so no tariffs to worry about.
Shipping starts in December.
take my money!
I havenât seen Paul walk out of his beach front house at the Malibu Colony yetâŚ!
You would think if these assists could be developed, manufactured, distributed and supported could be done cheaper Riift would have come to market at a much lower price point and taken market share. But they didnât, that tells me these assists wonât get cheaper in the future as that is what they need to cost to support a company, pay wages, rent etc.
I wonder if weâll see aftermarket options built to fit the rift boxes.
I think itâs going to be the opposite. Start with a Riift battery+Controller (where the added value is) and build/source/recycle the rest yourself including parts from Foil Drive. A Riift Drive!
That is the US price in US dollars. Foildrive actually has product sitting in a distro warehouse in the US. Donât believe the Riifters have done this yet. This means your rift product has to go through customs.
I saw that they are offering standalone batteries so I guess that answers that question for the people who want to have multiple batteries.
The rest is cheap and easily sourced, the main cost is the battery/controller.
Prices are given in both US and Australian dollars. Foil Drive took a few years to set up their Americas/EU entities and would not expect Riift to have such an established network from the get go. In any case, we will always pay landing/logistics costs whether they are padded in the initial product cost or paid directly to customs later on.

And the best foil assist is:
The faster you go, the more inertia comes into play. A battery on the board at those speeds makes the setup much harder to roll over. Battery on body is the superior design if you can tolerate the electric cable leash (it gets old over time).
The one that pays the best prone foilers?
I see a problem in your conclusion. ![]()
Were you there to watch it? An epic day.
Haha I know this was pure bait, will have to see who wins the prone but Dukes leash broke in the assist
