So I am looking to get a bit more pitch stability in order to learn my roll/duck tacks.
i read that a larger stab can achieve that or a slightly longer fuse.
which do you think is better?
current set up is a 1000cm2 FW, 220 stab, 95cm mast. nothing wrong with this set up but want to experiment with having a even more stable set up
Thanks
I think the trade-off is that moving the stabilizer back has little effect on drag, while a bigger stabilizer can have a significant drag increase. But moving the stabilizer back makes pitch changes feel sluggish.
While we’re on the topic, I’ve read countless times that a longer fuse has better glide. I know It lets you get away with a smaller tail because of the leverage, but if you use the same size tail on 2 different length fuses, how would the longer one allow the foil to glide better?
In the way you’re looking for, the board resists quickly changing the pitch angle. The downside is it doesn’t just resist your unwanted pitch input when you’re tacking, it resists all pitch input. When you’re trying to make a split-second adjustment to avoid breeching or touching down, it resists that too.
Before buying anything though, you should try shimming the tail you have.
Yes I see what you mean.
Can’t shim the stab as it’s monbloc
So it would give the effect I wanted potentially.
This isn’t for the perfect set up but more a set up for learning new things which I find easier with stability
