Prone Newbie Advice Needed: Axis PNG910, HPS930, or BSC890?

I have access to these 3 front wings and have an Axis 75cm mast that I use for dock-starting. I can do my Wakethief 1 minute pumps on the PNG1310. I’ll be learning mainly on a slow, knee to chest-high point break with a very rocky bottom, so I will trash this first wing. Which wing is the best direction for someone just starting to prone? I’ve surfed for 44 years and mainly still surf a 5’10". I’m 190lbs and shape my own boards. Which might be the most forgiving take-off and/or best for pumping/connecting?..the best compromise? (Once I learn enough not to trash the wing, I’m getting a Progression ASAP)

Super Duper Thanks!

Definitely BSC890!

Not the 1310.

The hps will be faster and smoother.

The bcs will have tons more initial lift. More front foot! Better slow speed.

Knee to chest high is huge! Hps is my choice. Pick your tides wisely. Under knee high, high tide is what you should start in.

Thanks for the replies! Luckily not planning to use the 1310 in the surf, that’'s just for dock pumping (loving it!). I’ve been nursing a cracked fibula, so dock pumping was the only sport that didn’t hurt.

Which of the 3 foils, BCS890, HPS930, PNG910, will be the most forgiving pumper to make my first connection?

I’ve have had a half dozen prone attempts over the past 2 years using low aspect Slingshot and oversized Gong wings in horrible dredging closeouts (people breaking boards). So I’ve paid some dues already. Now I’m frothing to try an authentic mushy wave with a wing that has some pumping game.

I look forward to any more insight. Thanks!

Prob go with the 910. I think those all would be perfect beginner wings though.

  1. It prones. Has a speed limit which is good for learning so you don’t go to fast and out of control. It pumps easily.

Not for chest high though. 1-2 foot face waves.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice.

Now I need to find those mushburgers that I spent 40 years running away from.

BSC easiest to surf and forgiving to pump but it’s not efficient so you’ll be really tired by the time you get to the next wave
