It was a good time out there. 95% of the spots are really surf only. The takeoff spots are tight and the inside doubles up into shallow reef with no run into deep water. But all of that aside, I am happy I bought the foil setup. I had about 4 or 5 sessions foiling. The crowds were mellow and way more understanding of seeing a foiler around then all the spots I go out in San Diego.
So I stayed in the Kandui area of the Mentawais. I had a fun session at Good Times which is a soft left. The rest of the sessions I had were on the smaller high tide days at 4Bobs. Which is right in front of the Kandui floating dock. I was able to chip in on the shoulder or sit on the inside part of the reef for the reforms into deeper water.
I am VERY happy i bought my older generation setup. The reef was 5x rougher on the carbon then hawaii.
