At least there is no proprietary adapter you have to buy separately just to use this…
I’m guessing that Gong doesn’t even have the “Plus” built yet. All the single-skin videos and content are with the Neutra. Everything
I have written several inquiries about the Plus to both the gong team on YouTube and IG, radio silence. I’m curious if both single-skins have similar upwind abilities from someone that’s been on both.
They claim the Nuetra is better than plus for upwind but still not good.
I’m hoping that is marketing for their other double skinned parawings and the Nuetra is still as reasonably good.
Is there a reason to consider the plus over Nuetra for long term usage that includes upwind and stashing for downwind?
The neutra go upwind pretty good in this video. They also say the Plus is more stable than the Neutra and upwind is near equal. Plus it’s less money. Sounds like a no brainer if the upwind statement is true
I can’t help but feel like all of these companies are making wild guesses as to how performance differs even between their own models
It seems they have added new descriptions. Makes it hard to know what to get.
This is what I was looking at previously
Unlike the Plus, the Neutra allows for more trajectory variations and can be used for short tacks, although it is not designed for upwind riding like a wing.
If the Gong guys can say something using a hundred words where one would have been fine they willl…
Hi @Gonefoiling !! Have you been able to test it in the water already? Any additional review you can share? Thanks!!
I see them already available to order - and at a good interesting price point to start with!
Wonder how well or not so well it handles and goes upwind.
Have a great one!
we have had very weak wind. so not much water time. a few sessions under my belt, a bit of flight time on a large foil on one of the days. the wing behaves pretty well i would say. havent had any tangles. only time i have trouble is when the wind is light and the PW drops right in front of the nose. the same with the getting stuck in the water. if its light, you will have to grab the leading edge repeatedly as the PW drops. when the wind was even a bit better the PW rises out of the water. a trick is to grab the lines and the PW may align even faster. hoping to get to do a side-by-side comparison soon with d-flow.
It’s gonna be a tough comparison since it cost almost half the price:heart_eyes:
Thanks for the feedback!
so far looking at the videos, seems quite similar in terms of how it flies (my feel is that d-flow may be just a tad more stable but not sure since havent had a first had comparison). the key thing seem to be to compare PW in marginal conditions. if the wind is strong, everything will likely work, thats my 2cents.
What’s the two kinds you have? Flow & ? - I missed it…
Yes everything about the PW is better in stronger wind to a sharp red line. Then the ability to go upwind or maintain any degree of control goes straight out the window. Sadly, they have less than half the range of a decent wing and really need steady wind. Who gets that? Certainly not us…
There will be magical days of course but plan on getting yanked
Any real world reviews on the 777 Paratow?
I ordered one based on their claims of similar upwind ability and range to a Wing. I’m totally fine with a little extra work/ time deflating for the upwind and range benefits
Is this the style of riding you are wondering about?
4 tacks to stow and go. The key for me is riding spots that have current against wind. It makes the upwind angles easy and the bumps amazing. In my five years winding I have gravitated towards targeting these conditions regardless.
It’s great fun to have my ripping 40L wing board with tiny foil and wing on the beach and swap out from the 55L ML with medium foil and parawing. Two different riding experiences for sure. Both amazing in their own right.
Fone has had some good ideas.
But I’m not sure they understand what we are trying to do? Iv seen it in person and didn’t get it then! Anyone have thoughts about this ?
Minute 20
Also, is the Duotone has a double skin? Seems like a good idea for sailing but not great for getting it wet or stowing.
