Unifoil Price Drop

Been looking at upgrading my Unifoil mast for a while now but wasn’t ready to pay $1600 for a mast. Price suddenly dropped to $1269 on their website and it looks like they recently had a big price drop on all their foil gear except for the Aggression. Anybody have any insight as to why? Seems like the Torque, Evolutions, and Afterburners are all relatively new products.

Dont know why but looks like their retailers are all doing the same everything is 25-30% or so off. Unifoil has always felt weirdly quiet/non-communicative with their marketing and new releases of gear to me compared to competitors. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are calling it and shutting down.

It is weird - and I could be wrong - but I doubt they are shutting down. Probably just getting through some inventory and keeping the go-forward inventory leaner and focusing on Aggression / Evolution (which arent discounted). A lot of the stuff they are blowing out is pretty old (the wings, Vyper, Hyper are close to obsolete). Maybe moving away from selling boards and focusing on foils? I know they just (quietly) signed up some new team riders - lower profile guys, but rippers nonetheless.

Evolution, Afterburners, and race masts being on sale is super weird. The other stuff you mention has always been on sale because its so old no one wanted it.

They did mention in a podcast that they figured out how to get AI to design their foils and I think they even pointed out that things that took about a year to develop were cut down to a month? So, they might just be moving on to the next thing already.

just doesnt look right. evolution just came out. and they are doing a 30% off. unless these have reached the end of the product life cycle: people are no longer buying evos….?!

I would imagine with those discounts they are moving to Direct To Consumer model. Take out the retail shops completely. Interesting.

I’m honestly surprised that any of these foil brands aren’t primarily DTC or at least both that + retail shops. Most don’t offer direct purchase at all.

Unifoil going under seems a little drastic. Imagine they are just clearing inventory to retool or finance some newer ideas.

Would make sense if the Aggression goes back up for the same price range

They just confirmed on their socials that they are going direct to consumer…interesting development for the foil market

"Unifoil has always been built by riders for riders, driven by performance, craftsmanship, and a passion for the water. As the sport continues to grow, we believe access to high-performance gear shouldn’t be limited by unnecessary costs.

Unifoil is moving to a direct-to-consumer model, connecting directly to riders and offering the same precision-engineered foils at more accessible prices without compromise.

By removing the middleman, we can offer the same world-class quality at nearly half the cost, accelerating innovation and increasing accessibility for riders from all walks of life.

Foiling just became more attainable. Build your quiver, explore more designs, and ride more often with the same uncompromising performance Unifoil is known for.

Unifoil. Built by riders. Priced for riders."

Queue retailers talking shit on Uni now. This is a bold move and I’m here for it, but it will cause some problems. I can understand they need to make a move since Code came and swooped a lot of folks.

This is really encouraging news. For someone like myself who can’t afford brand new. The same as the gong model, which is immensely popular amongst the non sponsored riders here in Europe. I was searching for a used code 850s. Will happily wait now to see how much an evolution will be for UK buying.

I think this is great for foiling. Allowing for growth in the sport with quality gear at a more reasonable entry point. Not many can afford a $5000 new setup for a board plus foil.

I would love to switch to UniFoil, but they don’t offer a huge, ultra high aspect pump front wing.

I think direct to consumer, just like Gong, is what made foiling much more popular. It certainly made me try it! I wouldn’t have spent 2 thousand (or more) euros on trying foiling

We have Unifoil marked down to 30% off if anyone is interested. Not trying to be spam. But just want to let people know. unifoil – Green Hat Kiteboarding

Marcus Tardrew talked about D2C on a podcast recently. I think it was him. Talked about how the downside of D2C is you have to do all the warranty work yourself. Worldwide. No support system at all.

I guess that makes sense. Glad I didn’t pull the trigger a month or two ago! Guess it’s a good time to buy. Doubt they’ll drop any lower than they already have.
