It does make me wonder what this mysterious “Team” column actually represents. Was it self disclosure? I guess so given the “my wife” entry. But was it labelled as such? Why then the gaps, why the gaps on slingshot riders? As if this thread wasn’t rabid enough, to have such a thing throwing more blood into the water

Definitely self entered. My friend Garret Rodriguez listed ‘Self Sponsored’ which he would have submitted for sure (He was on F4 Hammerhead 585). Props to the blank entry guys for not lying. Surprised they didn’t put ‘Its complicated’.

sort of but also sort of not. I think for anyone who really cares about getting the best, they will figure it out fairly easily regardless of brand marketing budget. I’m a fan of F4 having zero riders on the budget yet somehow capturing the constructors cup easily. When I buy a foil I don’t want to fund a marketing effort, I want to be funding an engineering effort to make the best equipment.
For anyone there in person, all you see under the vast majority of the fastest rider’s is F4. And even a higher percentage of the slow/intermediate riders in Oahu are riding F4 as well (aspirational riders will copy what they think gives them the best chance of getting good).
A year ago it was code, axis, and frank boards. Almost everyone is still on Frank boards with F4 underneath.

I was pretty sure these Power Rankings by an irrelevant mediocre foiler from Maroubra would quickly descend down the page rankings and fall off the radar before anyone got to the joke about disclosing the Rumour Mill as a legitimate source. It was my favourite, but probably not anyone else’s…

‘Zactly, Hydrocraft researched this and found no perceptible difference between fuse diameters. If there was a way to accurately measure it, of course there is a difference, but I would certainly never notice it.

Hi,
Just wanted to respond to fuselage diameter related questions, as this is related to testing we’ve been involved with. Firstly every dimension has an effect on performance. The fuselage is a structural element, so stiffness and strength are critical. We tested everything using an electric foil where we could get accurate power data for a given rider weight and speed. Fuselage dimensions were isolated, so we could compare between different sizes. Clearly this should be as small as possible, especially since it’s not doing very much. Also, as we ride the angle is always changing, it’s never exactly optimized, so the real key is tuning the setup as this is what enables the fuselage to be at the right orientation relative to the flow conditions on the foil. Additionally, the fillets and connections are super important. Some brands have done an amazing job at designing these connections..

I much prefer the typed caption to Edo’s explanation. But overall, good response to the situation. I guess this is what you get when young guys take over the company. They haven’t learned how to head these things off at the pass and how to handle them before they blow up.
Was sent this screengrab - anyone know what foil this is? It looks like Axis, but I don’t think it is. I have a Tempo/Ti-Link and it’s not quite like this. A mystery. A stone cold whodunnit.

Having foiled in Hawaii I’m surprised turtle strikes haven’t played a larger part in results. The water is thick with the beautiful bastards.
