AFS Stabilizers

I’ve got a few AFS stabs (Silk 152, 132, and the HA38). I placed an order for the UG41. I thought it would be helpful to gather together people’s thoughts on stabs in one place. What pairs well together, i.e. front wing + stab? How do the different fuselage sizes (short and standard) change things? What other brand models are people using with AFS front wings? That ought to at least get the conversation started. Thanks in advance.

Lots to unpack there. Happy to answer questions but the basics:

All silks work with the 132. I prefer ug41 on 1050 and Cloud IX 157 on 650.

132 works with enduro 700, 800, 900. I prefer ug41 with all of them though.

Have also used the mako carve and mako glide 120 on them. Mako carve 130 is best with Silk 850. The forward swept design (just like the ug41 and C9 157) makes the fuse feel shortened and loosens the foil up nicely.

*edit: Forgot to add that the HA38 is excellent for speed and glide but feels like it also provides a lot more stability, less turning.

I don’t care for the short fuse on any of the foils when paired with the skinny 75 mast. Too much torque and twitch in the system. With the 80cm standard the enduro 900 and any larger span foils than that all do nicely with the short fuse.

Short fuse = more pitch and scoop style turns as it shortens the distance from front of the foil to the mast. Standard fuse is a more traditional roll turn as it maintains the traditional distancing of the front of the foil to the mast.

132 is my preferred stabilizer for the 850 and 1050. I also have a chopped HA40 that I often use on the 1050 as I feel like it adds a little bit more low end when I need it but still feels efficient in glide. The stock HA40 definitely felt efficient on the 1050, but locked it in quite a bit, which is why I chopped it. The chop unlocked it a bit. Also have the 152, which works well on the 1050, but feels less efficient than the chopped HA40 and doesn’t turn that much better.
