Are there many kiters here?

Howdy! :waving_hand: I’ve been kitefoiling for a couple years now and totally digging it. Twin tipping has mostly disappeared for me, although I was more of a lawn mower than a booster.

Love the flow state of kitefoiling.

I learned on a Lift Classic 170 and am currently on a 150 Surf v2 with Carve 26.

What are the other kiters here riding?

I don’t think I’ve touched a twin tip in at least a year, probably more. Riding chubanga v2 and mikes lab bullet 5 with sonic 3 kites. Sometimes I’ll ride a SAB w800 in ultra low wind with a pulsion 15m UL kite.

Now I’m googling “Chubanga v2” :joy:

Guilty :man_raising_hand:
Just using my prone board strapless with surf foils. Loved the Unifoil Vyper 130 and now on Evolution 115. A normal 8m inflatable works well enough in 8 to 15 knots.

I agree, the effortless flow state of kite foiling is quite addictive. Added bonus is that it really helped my response time, carving and tuning gear for big wave prone as i’m practicing similar speeds on the same prone gear.

Haven’t been on a TT since many years now.

Mostly riding my prone wings, namely Lift 90 and 120, sometimes 150HAX. I use 20 carve tail with and without extension, depending.

Yes!! Love my 18m lines for kites 7m and below. But I go with 22m on my 9m an 11m as our summer winds in Connecticut stay high up.

Started Kite foiling a long time ago on a Carafino foil. Took a break after finally getting it. Got back into it on Slingshot.

Currently: Unifoil, mostly the 90 or 150 Vyper.
Kites: 5M, 7m Airwave Koala’s, 11m, 18m Ozone Chrono.

Wow. 18m foil kite. What’s your low end wind speed?

I use an 11m Cabrinha Contra and can get going around 10-11 kts wind speed, or when the first few whitecaps appear.

No white caps, around 5 mph. Once going w apparent wind, no issues, just have to be careful on direction change. Usually loop the kite.

Why? Guess you loose bottom end. What do you gain?

3’7” Slingshot Hopecraft V2 with the long tracks
Unifoil Viper 150
Short fuse
13” Shut tail (front foot) with +1 shim
Flysurfer Peak 4 kites - 3m to 8m

I mostly ride Flysurfer Hybrids 3,5m and 2,5m in 16-40 knots with F one sk8 850/650 depending on wave size, big tube kites in lighter wind for boosting. So much fun with the Hybrids amazing drift, maneuverability and effortless return to the peak of the wave. I can’t understand how everyone ain’t frothing about the small Hybrid kites, they are simply amazing for wave riding.

Since pumpfoiling and parawing I can’t bring myself to kite anymore. The one thing that does still have some draw is low tide finless skim sessions because you can’t foil in 1 cm of water.

By far my most used kite is an 18m Sonic 3 and often a 21, riding “race style:” fast tacks and gybes. I ride the 21 in 6-10 knots roughly. Can technically water start the 21 as low as 4 knots, but it’s not a good time.

  • 5/8/11m UFO kites.
  • 80cm Hopecraft V2
  • 92cm mast, Slingshot 855 foil.

So much fun for those 8-14knot days.

I’m riding Peaks 8,6,5,4 on a surf foil setup. 4’8" 36L, Unifoil Vyper 170 / P125. Figuring that I’ll have all my riding dialed in for when I finally get into prone foiling…
But I typically keep my kitefoiling to sub 18kts, as many other options fire up once it’s windy. Wingfoil or Kitesurf. Just depends on the conditions and the desires of the day.
