Axis artpro 1401 black fuse vs black advance fuse for pump foiling

Hi,
in the axis artpro 1401 black fuse vs black advance fuse for pump foiling.

do you really need the advance? can’t i just go with the normal black fuse?
is there any advantage for the black advance fuse with the 1401?

Advanced fuse is noticeably stiffer torsionally (rail to rail). Even if you aren’t trying to turn, it can be noticed while pump foiling as first pendulum mode side to side - feels wobbly. I think having the mast closer to the foil is not really much of an effect for pump foiling.

Get the Advanced + for those big foils, makes a huge difference in control due to stiffness, and is much better for turns too.

Last summer I was riding the 1401 with the 640mm Advanced fuse 40 skinny tail.

I bought the 560 mm (Crazy Short?) Advanced+ and the board pumped like it was 1 foot shorter, or 2 lbs lighter. Same 40 tail.

Something about the shorter lever arm up front causes the nose to recover faster. When pumping this is key because there is less ‘wait time’ for the nose to pop up giving the impression of reduced swing weight and easier pump. Call it 15% better pump.

Frankly it was the most affordable improvement I could add to my whole board & foil rig.

Great info. I wonder how much of this is due to the advanced + vs the total fuse size?

I have noticed the same, either with shorter fuse or smaller stab. Not sure if the advanced plays much role though.

Dockstarting I have found quite helpful in testing gear changes
In dockstarting most start with a massive effective stab size which makes the initial landing and pumping easier but actually can make it hard to gain height pumping. Smaller stab/fuse with increased pitchiness really helps one climb the mast. I think also can be very helpful for DW as it allows you to pump it up easier such as if you were on a lighter/shorter board and get into the energy easier or over chop.
