Duotone Midfish Foil Board

Super interested to see if anyone has got any water time on the new Duotone MidFish. Looking to upgrade my bigger board for something that will handle Foil Drive and Prone in one board. Honestly, the shape of the mid fish just looks visually appealing to me, and it looks like the foil tracks are much more forward than my current Lift 5’ X40 prone board. I’m interested to see if anyone has real-world experience.

That thing looks sick! I’m curious as well. I’m headed to Bonaire this weekend to wing and there is a rental place that carries Duotone. Maybe I can rent one and let you know how it is.

Weird that it has front foot straps but not back foot strap inserts.

That sounds like a rad trip!

I am probably the one person who would like the front strap only. I move my back foot around a lot and found that the single front strap helped give me some extra leverage to turn over the ha wings. Currently riding strapless.

I got to play with it in flat water at awsi with their foil assist. Felt fine pumping around with the little bit of fun I could make in flat water, I think I’d be able to prone it fine, it’s a sweet outline

Good to hear!

In all honesty, I would likely be stealing waves on my local lake with the foil drive 85-90% of the time, with the goal of getting down to the coast to play in the ocean. I personally have no issues with the lake hitting my battery box, so I’m not overly concerned with a trench-style board.

I like that this board is a bit unique!

I don’t really get the idea behind this design.

Mid length boards have a long waterline and a very smooth water release at the tail, to reduce drag in displacement mode. This fish tail kind of goes against these two concepts.

Seems like the tail and bottom rail have almost a pintail shape when the board would be up on plane.

Defiantly has a longer and narrow outline.

the fish is purely to catch the backpack cable and stop it slapping around, and the size of it I doubt will make much difference to the takeoff at all, especially not for the intended audience

That makes a lot of sense! Smart design for the hip pack cable.

The swallow tail also allows the cable to be shorter as it passes through the V and up to your hip. The Duotone Assist probably won’t work on a regular mid length board as the cable won’t be long enough to pass over the tail and up to your hip.

I’ve used the Duotone Assist and the cable is quite chunky and heavy.
