Looking for foil advice for F One set up. Currently wing and prone with the 850 sk8 either on 85cm No Limitz V2 or an old 75cm F one.
I want something with more glide because sometimes I have a hard time linking waves when de powered winging and haven’t been successful at pumping back out and linking waves while proning (still pretty new at proning and all I have is my 60L wing board right now but can catch mushy waves no problem knee to head high)
I’m also planning to eventually learn how to downwind so considering buying an Eagle but trying to determine what size would be best. Any of you F One foilers who foil across multiple sports have any recommendations? I’m 160lbs…
Leaning towards the 990 as I think it may pair well across conditions with the 850 sk8 and help me get into downwinding. Also wondering if it may be too big for my weight once I progress into it. What are your thoughts?
I use the 990 eagle as a session saver prone foiling when conditions are poor. the 850 Sk8 is my daily driver. I weigh 215 lbs however, In regards to improving, you may progress more with your pumping by spending money on a dedicated prone board than on a new foil.
Thanks for the response. A dedicated prone board is definitely on the list for purchase eventually, probably before my next foil. Good to know about your weight and foil size. Sometimes wish I got the 750 sk8 instead of 850 but hindsight is always 20/20. Thanks for the advice I’m going to consider the 890 more
I am out prone on either a 5’6 portal enigma 55L or a 4’10 Amundson nubby 39L. I ride an eagle 890 with the XS 160 carve monoblock tail. I’m pretty bad at pumping but I feel like once my skills match the foil it’ll be a good size for me. I’m 170lbs plus wetsuit. I do kinda wish I got the 990 first and maybe progressed to the 890. If you have the skill I think you will be able to make the 890 work.
