I know boards are different these days but wanted to see people’s thoughts on the 2023 Downwinder for a learner. I can prone, pump link etc and thinking about getting into downwinding and SUP on small days. It’s 6’2 25 wide and 120 litres and most of all fits in my car, I’m 95 kg
I’m no expert by any means but 25” seems way too wide for downwinding to me
I wouldn’t recommend using that board unless you already own it. It’s too short and too wide for learning, especially at your weight. Of course, you can catch some waves while supfoiling on it, but learning to downwind will be quite challenging. From a construction standpoint, it’s not good either. To be fair, I never see a board that fragile, it’s too thin(especially the nose), and every time you touch it will end up with a hole instead of just a scratch. make your life easy and don’t go lower then 7’6
