Hi everyone,
I just noticed that I slightly damaged my stab.
Is there a quick technique to fix it properly rather than using Solarez?
( I know this is nothing serious )
I looked on the forum but I couldn’t find an answer

sand it out, too small to fix
Here’s a link to a post on using epoxy. I’ve fixed little chips just like that in a couple foils with epoxy.
For something like that I agree that its absolutely not worth it. Just sand it out.
Ive repaired broken foils with carbon, and it can be done to almost 100%, but doing it right is very time consuming (lots of prep and sanding) and you can really mess things up if it isn’t done right. Ive seen people repair trailing edge dings (kind of like yours) with a carbon epoxy slurry. It is particularly tricky to get repairs right and avoid oversanding in (a) more complicated curves (wingtips, tubercles, more complicated foil sections) or (b) very fine areas of the foil (trailing edges, wingtips, etc…).
Low Halogen Marker works great on scratches and nicks.
Small nicks use superglue, leave for minute to start setting then sellotape over to shape. Fine sand if needed.
I’ve tried that and regretted it. Does absolutely nothing, looks bad (too dark black) and all scratched are still visible. It’s one the examples of using wrong stuff which wasn’t designed for it.
I agree with sanding the tip as I’ve done it with even bigger chips
That’s interesting. I had the opposite experience with Halogen on my Axis foils. It filled the holes well and left the surface perfectly smooth. The material dries very solid. It is a bit darker than the surrounding carbon but this doesn’t bother me.
Yeah the halogen worked super well for me, maybe you used it wrong. it is intended to do - it fills the scratches, and you sand the excess off. You shouldn’t see anything once it is done, other than the scratches now being darker
I will give a try to the low Halogen Marker !
I was thinking to put some tape under the stab, fill in the hole, waiting for it to dry, removing the tape and sanding both sides with 1000
Low Halogen marker only works well for the smallest of scratches - and it works well for this. As the prior poster illustrated, you just apply it, then use 600-1000 grit to sand off the excess, and it only remains in the scratch. Unfortunately I find it won’t fill anything substantially below the surface, which makes it more of an aesthetic solution than anything. Ive tried layering and it still applies pretty thin. Recently tried it to fill some pinhole imperfections in a carbon repair and it wouldn’t even fill those. For deeper scratches and scuffs I have used glazing compound first, then layered the low halogen over it so that it covers the colored compound and is slightly more aesthetic.
