Flat start on downwind race

What is the best strategy for a flat start on a race when the fetch is too short and the bumps only develop after about 3km down the line?

a) Paddle up immediately and ride for a minute or two having to sit rest for 3 min and repeat (cant flatwater pump straight 3km)

b) paddle prone a few hundred meters until the bumps get minimum energy or

c) paddle standing until feel the bumps pushing enough for start

I doubt a) with a sit rest is faster than landing before you’re completely spent and continuing to paddle at moderate effort.

Secret answer d. ride a larger foil.

Barring that. B.

Done that but the larger foils required more pumping and less glide because it cant keep up with the faster bumps. I am at a comfortable size paddling up easy but not losing speed or glide. I think I just need to be more efficient on flat pumping but not easy after 42yo

d) invest a lotta time in the gym

e) be reborn as a highly athletic 20 year old
