I love my code S, have the 1130,980,850,720.
720 is great, used it as a go to for winging but now using it PW too. Interestingly I have used it with 119 race tail, 142 and 158, and you get a dramatically different feel and range with each one. I use on medium fuse.

I would like to try this comparison as well. Unfortunately, I find Axis intimidating to demo because the fuse options are so vast, I wouldn’t have any clue what to ask for if I was trying to create an even comparison to the code S.
Axis is definately the Linux of foiling.
The advance + fuses are most similar to Code’s geometry. An Axis Ultrashort is a little shorter than a Code Short and an Axis Short is probably a little longer.
The Axis fuses are thin along their width which is helpful pumping, but probably contributes to feeling more pitchy compared to Code.
A Surge 830 (span) should be comparable to a Code 720.
Damn I really wish I’d known you wanted to test this gear when I was in the gorge a couple of weeks ago. I had a 615s with me gathering dust you could have used!!
I’m a Code “team rider” so take my word and advice on this with a grain of bias salt but I have loved nearly all brands mid aspect/surf foil offerings that I’ve tested… except for the axis surge.
To me it had a very abrupt lift onto foil moment and once up and going felt very draggy and a bit pitchy. Heaps of lift for the size though and no issues getting tips out.
Don’t sweat it. A few weeks ago I was still sorting out the 740x and Vario 120. I hadn’t locked down tail choice on the 720s yet either. I don’t think I knew I was interested in the 615s at that point. Hit me up next year with a quiver of Sv2 though! 
Fingers crossed I have a demo lined up Tuesday with an option to buy if I love it. Truly the wrong time of year to honestly test it. I think its a spring foil but I’ll see if it can spark some magic for me.
Demo didn’t work out but getting clean dw runs on the 720s now which means the 615s should be doable, especially in the spring. If anyone with a 615s comes through the Gorge and wants to share for a day shoot me a message!
Have you tried the F4 Orca 685? I’m demo’ing one right now but (I haven’t tried the 720s) it feels like it would be sooo up your alley.
Haven’t tried it. Would be good to take it for a spin just to see what the hype is all about but I think it has too much span. The Piranha is probably a better fit for me.
But… I can imagine the 615s being unreal in the spring and maybe we’ll get lucky and Sv2 will get announced at AWSI? I get the feeling that getting a 615s demo just isn’t going to happen this season unfortunately.
