Heavy Claim? AFS Enduro 900 Review

Have you been able to compare it to the Silk 850?

I love the Enduro 900 and the Silk 850, for Foil Drive-ing and winging. If the conditions are flatter and I expect to have to get through some flat sections, I’ll rig the Enduro. If the waves are stacked, or if I want to focus on harder carving, its the Silk 850.

If I only could have one foil it would be the 900 just because of it versatility (tons of glide, but still carves - just not as fluidly as the Silk 850)

I can be a bit of a gear hoarder… each foil I had was good at some aspect. But after I first tried the Enduro 900 I sold off all my other foils - Axis, F One, Cabrinha, and Uni. At 185#, the Enduro 900 excelled at everything I wanted a foil to do.

For parawing I’ve been able to use the Enduro 1100 and 900, but my spots are a bit untrustworthy for dependable, steady wind so I prefer the Enduro 1300 to make sure I can get up on foil.

I foil with a guy that is big/muscular - and he had the same experience that I have with the Enduro 900, but with the Enduro 1100. I think he is 220#.

How much do you weigh?

If you are asking me - 185 pounds

If you were 150lbs would you go 700 or 800 you think?

I have not ridden the Silk 850 yet. But I would be interested in checking it out and doing a back to back.

Ive only used a friend’s 700 twice. If you have lots of power to tap (wind for winging, wave/swell for prone/DW/Foil Drive) the 700 can work for you. But the 700 needs that energy. At 185#, the 900 is automatic for me. At 150#, not knowing what conditions/discipline you are foiling in, I’d say the 800 is a safer bet.

The Silk 650 is similar for me - I need more energy to get this foil to work for me where the 850 is on automatic. I can still throw around the 1050, but the 850 is magic at my weight.

I mostly tow (boogie) flat water for carving, practicing pump and chasing boat wakes but want a wing that can do some prone in knee to chest waves, not too steep.

Im considering changing to AFS and in time would build a quiver but as a first foil I want a all-rounder for my use-case and weight

If anyone wants to buy an enduro 700 or trade for an 8/9/10, PM me.

@OmarFoilCol Could probably give you good advice at your weight!

I’m 155 and if you want an allrounder then Enduro it is. See you asked about wether the 700 or 800 will depend on your level and the conditions you ride. I mostly use the 700 for prone, winging and sometimes sup surf. SUP Downwind only in strong wind conditions. I would say the 800 is ideal if you look for more pumping and low end range and considering an allrounder for most conditions. I complemented the 700 with ULTRA 750 and 1100 so huge range with all those foils, but for one and only 800/900 would be best.

Perhaps consider getting the 800 with 132 and HA40 For carving in good conditions and amping low end with the HA40.

Hope this helps
