Just saw this vid of Josh Ku’s foilboard. Interesting design. Super thin, greenough edge board rails and twinny futures fin boxes. Def seems length/surface area and thin seema to be the direction of prone foil boards. Moving towards a surfboard outline basically or should I say it is a surf/foil board. Prob good stiffness too! You could also make it a npj duo lol.
Obviously haven’t tried it, but I would be really surprised if that surfed well. I’m sure you can have a board that could be used for surfing and foiling, but I doubt it would do either of them well. I’ll wait for some unbiased reviews.
Maybe tossing in some small fins helps keep the board tracking straight when paddling into bigger waves?
I’ve never had that issue. The mast acts as a fin and i guess adding two fins would only add drag
Yeah I think its a cross over setup for surfing or wake surfing maybe? Prob not worth mentioning after I think about it more. But I guess I was thinking if eventually foilboards could just be a surfboard but made in carbon… and with both options
Imagine that would be a bigger issue with how long that board is. Paddling a dw board in prone makes you realize how much subtle adjustments you make to your take off angle, and how hard it is when a board won’t yaw while paddling
