180 lbs. some beginner, kitefoil ride both directions but no gybe/tack yet, kiteboarding ok, kitesurfing ok

I am 185lbs and I like the progression 170 for proning in small low energy east coast waves.

The 140 works for me with a little more energy

I’m 200lbs.

knee to stomach = 170p

Waist to shoulder = 140p (not for beginners)

Chest plus = grab Surfboard

start with the progression 170 or 200 for sure, 140 is WAY too small for you at first

another vote for 170, killer foil, does it all, a little easier to ride than the 140

Progression 170 is the call, do it.

Another vote for the Progression 170. It was my go to foil for learning.

The Progression 140 was a challenge for me until I could pump and link waves on the 170.

I think the Progression 200 would be a handful for a first foil since it has a lot of lift and will eject you out of the wave until you have things figured out.

Oh, ya, good call on the 200, too boosty and unwieldy for a beginner. 170 is the sweet spot for average to large sized riders.

Glad to see I’m not the only one getting ejected on waves using the 200. It’s a great foil for learning but as soon as I get on any lump I get launched!
