Comparing AFS Silk 850 with Code 810x, I think the feeling is that these foils like to be pushed, and leave less margin for being ridden badly, but unlock good riding. It reminds me of a good surfboard.

The 810x is what I expected, it’s like a surfier version of the 850s. The breaches are extremely smooth. It’s very neutral and stable.

Easy enough to pump a few connections, grave digging is easier than the Silk 850. I prefer the Silk but I’ve really got it dialled in.

The 810x has less “return push” when you roll it over, which I had got used to on the Silk (some Silk 850 waves from yesterday), so I think that might be the biggest learning.

810x is neutral all the way, where the Silk 850 starts to linearly build roll pressure as you lean it over, that was the only thing I struggled with on the 810x.

Now a few more sessions in, from knee high to overhead, all beach break prone (here and here are surfline clips.

I think it’s great, I prefer the Silk, I don’t really want to as it would be easier to shift to Code as local buddy is on Code and the Code R are super easy for DW.

I think it comes down to one thing:
