New KT foils - who has some info

do you have photos of that?

would be hard to notice in photos

I’ve been using Nomads for a couple weeks so far, only a few sessions and still can’t talk about deep detailed comments since I think I still have a road ahead for tuning and finding the sweet spots but here are some things to take into account:

out of water: KT obviously a bit heavier cause of the alum fuse - shimming system, I think not for everyone but it’s pretty simple and easy to understand, and from the recommended setting, you can do little 0,5°± adjustments to find the desired setup range, for that’s cool, with AFS I had to 3D print my own shims to try new feelings. But if you’re a simpler person, and don’t like shimming, just screws and go, then AFS it’s obviously plug&play.
Also I’m mostly using a CRISP stab which is compatible with both brands just changing the adapter, but with KT I must find the sweet spot shimming by trial and error since it’s airfoil is different from the KT original stabs obviously, so the suggested shimming system here doesn’t work so well. Once tried the stab on an ENDURO and no shimming required, felt good right away but more testing needed to be done.

In the water - Nomad 700 and 830, would say the 700 feels as lifty as the SILK 850 for start flying and even for pumping - but once flying, it’s a 700, so it’s looser way more playful and faster.
The nomad 700 for proning fits my needs perfectly being an inbetween in size/performance/carving/speed management of a SILK 650 which needs more wave power but is the BEST Carver still - and the 850 which for my 70Kg, usually throws me overpowered too easily.
SILKS are good pumpers, but you gotta be precise and have a rather high cadence pump, Nomads helps you a lot.

Carving - SILKS are still the best drivers, turns feel easy and like they carry you thru with AWD kinda feeling system ja - Nomads are more of a RWD with more pilot control required but they deliver too… SILKs more front foot pressure - NOMADs feel more backfoot pressure

830 Nomad felt more in the wave like the 850 silk - but better pumper and might even say low end lets you carry on smaller waves, someone would even compare it with the 1050 SILK !!

flow thru water - AFS with the bumps reduce a lot of the noise and feel more stable thru white or turbulent waters, NOMADs I’ve been told they feel ā€œgrainyā€, I’ve only felt it a couple times as if a fine little turbulence got stuck somewhere in the system and stayed for some seconds thru the wave, was really weird, not all the time thou.

Still more test to be done, since I’m still trying different shim settings on the CRIP 130, the Nomad 700 on the ATLAS 145 felt at home at the first session puming really well and was a day with glassy clean waves, and felt really nice thru carves too - not super hard roller, but very drivey, ideal to pump at really nice speed and carve hard against the coming wave face!

Both great foils - I think overall the AFS as a platform (no alum fuse corrosion hassle - UHM mast option - bigger more specialized front and stabs options porfolio) is better at this moment, SILK still the best carver for me and for sure a v2 will be awesome, as many have mentioned it would be awesome there was a 700-750 SILK (and modular).

Price/performance relation - and overall all-round performance being good at low end - pumping and still a super competetent carver and having more sizes available - does make a strong point in the decision making.

Have a great one!!

Finally got around to doing a video on my thoughts regarding the Solus 775. The Solus’ should be out in feb or March of 2026. Kane’s still tweaking the smaller versions. I’ll let you all know as soon as I get my hands on one. KT Solus 775 testing

Ok, I’ll bite, how’s the bottom end for parawinging… compared to say atlas 790?

The bottom end is higher than the Atlas range. What are you doing? Are you surfing it or are you downwinding? If you’re surfing it the Atlas is gonna be hard to beat, but if you’re looking to go fast down wind, the slightly higher bottom end is definitely worth the improvements in speed.

I’d be looking to use it for downwind with a parawing.

I don’t think you would have an issue at all. It’s a bit higher, but not noticeable to me on the parawing. I have used both with the parawing. To me I think the 650 will be my go to for parawing

By Ā« slightly higher Ā», where would you place it between the 680 and le 790 ?

Or maybe comparing it to the 110F ?

Sorry to be unclear. I haven’t paddled up the Atlas range, so I’m trying to think about how it compares with Parawing. In that way, yes between 680 and 790. The Atlas range is so much slower than the Solus, and downwind on Maliko means trying to go fast. I love the Atlas range for parawing DW runs focusing on turning, especially the 680. Love that wing! But for going fast the Solus is in a different league.

I have extensive experience on the Lift gear and I’d say it is between the 130 and the Florence 110.

Having tested the F4 685 and 530 I’d say it’s between these two as well, not as easy as the 685 but much easier than the 530.

Once lifted it is as fast or faster than the 530. Check my video. Andy and I are very similar speeds and this foil is faster.

What is everyone using as an anti-seize on their bolts. I see people talking about tef gel but harder to find locally. Have used permatex anti-seize on past foils I owned.

I’m not a friend of adding any grease or lube since they make a mess when in contact with sand and I think ends up being worse or at least for my own ocd.

on my KT system I only have had a little issue with a small squishy sound on the mast/fuse screws when untightening them. I used a thread cleaner and it removed the sound and issue, it came back after a few sessions but I think it’s because KT screws come painted and they release that small material leaving residues. Just keep cleaning the threads every few weeks or so and I’m fine. All the other screws and threads I clean them too preemptively but no issues of getting stucked or sound or anything there.

That’s my case. Hope this works

By the way, I already had this tool to clean all my past foil threads every now and then. It’s very useful

Is there harm caused by leaving the threads ā€œdirtyā€ ?

Nice idea, just ordered one. You just gently wind it in and back out without any extra lube?

i don’t want to come off as a critic just trying to help be informative, you’re in the right direction but This is a tap for creating threads although it technically works I would recommend using a thread chaser instead. Taps can easily cross thread and loosen connections because they’re designed to remove material in creating threads not refreshing them. A thread chaser is a similar tool made specifically for cleaning dirty threads so for guys who aren’t good with hand tools or or want to play it safe this is a better option. very similar tool, most of the time a little cheaper and intended for cleaning not cutting. it’s easy to mess up a thread, don’t want to see anyone asking how to retap a stripped thread or install helicoil

Oh bummer. Good to know but they seem to actually cost a bit more hehe.

they’re don’t lol

I can get Omar’s unit for $15 delivered to me. No aliexpress for the chaser, but happy to spend the extra.

arent you basically removing thread material? The threads will keep getting lose over time
