New KT foils - who has some info

Lots of good feedback here, that’s hard to find elsewhere.

@OmarFoilCol , how does the Crisp 130 pair with the Atlas 790?

Really nice

Same effect, looser and glider, feels faster. I just did a DW run past week reaching my PR for a 1 km at 2:07 on that setup. 36km/h top speed.

And today went for a prone sesh on it with small clean waves and carves are really smooth.

Not sponsored or distribution or any affiliation with Crisp by the way, payed full price and would do it again.

What problems did you have with the 1130 atlas?

The message is not directly aimed at me but I’ll give you my feedback. Hoping it will give you some insight. I’m an intermediate 185 lbs foiler that mainly parawing in fetch limited sea. I own a atlas 790 and nomad 1160 for prone, downwind and parawing and a 1340 atlas for dockstart. I ride them with 155 and 190 nomad tail and 63 fuse.

I use to own a Atlas 1130. While the pumpability and range was sick, it was too spanny for my taste/level. It felt too locked-in. I prefer my Nomad 1160 for the gain in turnability while sacrificing glide and speed but I think a Atlas 960 would have been better choice. For my weight and condition, I’ll suggest the Atlas 1130 for an absolute beginners downwinder.

ps: i don’t get any deal from KT

Thanks, goal for the 1130 is to be able to downwind as much as possible. Currently have the 1130 atlas for DW and 830 Nomad for prone. Will eventually try to pick up a 960 as I progress or for when conditions are good. Appreciate the feedback

Anyone break the KDW rules and use the nomad 155 tail with the 1130 atlas?

I tried the 145 with 1130 , terrible.

In what way? I really liked it from a swell-riding perspective. I had to be more careful with pumping but otherwise it felt fast and smooth.

It was really pitch unstable for me

I’m coming off the Jam1400 from f-one with the 160 tail. May give the 1130,63,155 nomad a shot next downwind

I’m using 1340 with 145 when pump foiling, with a short fuse. Super nice. Anything bigger feels like too much drag.

I’ve used 1130 with 63 &155 nomad tail. Took a session to get used to it but I really liked the combo for the small energy. I think mostly the reason it took a session to get used to it was the span of the 1130, not the tail combo.

Got a chance to ride the Nomad 980 yesterday in small NorCal pointbreak surf, first time on this setup. That wing carves, pumps, and glides surprisingly well for its size. Had a 3x1 right out the gates without even knowing this wing or working too hard. Feels like the AFS 1100 Enduro had a baby with a Progression 125. Just a vote of confidence for the echo chamber.

Took my Nomad 700 with Crisp 130 Stab for some Parawing Laps -
Nomads can Donwinwd too - and it’s really fun!

Which tail?

Any news on the new KT mast or a carbon fuse?

Not heard of a carbon fuse coming but the new KT masts look unreal. Saw a few at AWSI. Interesting and varying foil sections that are tuned individually for each length. Unique profile. Stiffer/thinner/faster/less yaw-resistance than the standard carbon mast by a good margin apparently. Coming April-ish. Really looking forward to these.

I’m extremely far from a foil pro but is this KT mast garbage or what?

What do you mean? the actual HM one?
