I’m convinced that the majority of us foilers (particularly on the forums) are in the OCD/ADHD spectrum. Whenever new gear shows up it’s like, “SQUIRREL!!!”
I’m pretty sure 90% of the gear already out there is far more capable than 90% of us.
and the last ones to get in always get the worst part?
Or is it the 2nd ones that get screwed when new stuff come out and their gear is no longer worthy
Maybe you’ll rethink your position…
I was running the 790F /145R /58 Fuse/ 85 Mast.
I’m about 200lbs wet running mid length 75L/3.5 M wing in 15-18.
5 Miles run shitty conditions with small bumps. Knee high at most.
Getting up was fairly easy, could go fairly slow without stalling.
Not draggy at all. Quite smooth
That setup was far from suitable for the conditions.
I should have been on the 790/170 /63 fuse
Don’t think these are game changers but they have a really good go to market strategy.
With the aluminum mast you should be able to score that kit for around $1300 as far as
I understand it. That’s pretty sick foil for that money.
They are probably coming with Monobloc Front/Tail at some point in the future. Probably
next year.
Yup. That’s what I heard as well.
Not sure if that was mentioned but the tails coming with the kit are G10 construction.
The One-Lock SlingShot kit with the aluminum mast and the monobloc carbon wings suppose to be around the 1300 as well. Pretty aggressive.
I had the new Slingshot Glide 725 foil in similar conditions as the KT. Very capable foil. I believe they’ll be very popular as well with that price point.
To answer my own question thanks to this latest video:
Carbon mast chord: 125mm
Aluminum mast chord: ? (Looks thinner in the pics)
Weird that they don’t include this in the specs. Seems like a detail that is customers want to know. Are they embarrassed it’s >120mm?!
@Matt I think the baseplate shim is to make sure users can get the desired angle of attack for their foil on a range of different boards. From what I understand some boards have more rocker than others, which can create drag/weird foot pressure due to the angle of the foil compared to the board.
I imagine, there will be other sizes but, the gap between 77 and 85 on the mast seems wide. I like to wing and do a few of the other disciplines and found 80-82 is just right. Ideally for me just owning one mast. I guess what I need to find out is if winging in bumpy conditions with a shorter mast is doable without breaching too often.
I really like the look of this gear, Im currently looking at moving away from current brand, since I am looking to replace all the parts anyway. This new KT gear is at the top of the list as a candidate to replace with.
