I’d be very inbterested. Probably would then buy another One Ocean mast. I wrote to Jim S. a few days ago regarding a one off TI adapter but havn’t heard back yet.
Jbwiden, certainly it would fit on the One masts. A reasonable cost though… have to weigh that against $2.4K masts.
My Stringy AL adapter is such a tight fit on my 78SSS mast I use a rubber mallet to get it off. I’d rather keep everything assembled if at all possible.
I have been meaning to do some Ti Adaptors for the last few months, if I get enough interest I will get of my arse and get it done.
On the topic of masts I have actually been test a mast that is by far the skinniest in all directions over the last month or so and when I got it I was really worried I had gone way to far but after getting a few fun DW runs on it I am now thinking it might actually be something that is next level amazing. Only for small wings but definitely pushing what we could go to.
I had a quick look at the new Kaiwaii mast. I measured the thickness at around 12.4 mm, so it’s roughly 1 mm thinner than the Pro mast. The chord is also a bit shorter, but nothing too extreme.
That said, visually — I didn’t measure this precisely — it seems to stay quite thin over a fairly large section compared to the Pro.
The rider using it is very strong, with a high level, and I’d guess he’s around 80 kg, maybe quite powerful too. He was riding it with the Tempo 750 and 650 on the two ultra-light runs I managed to do with him. He had no stiffness issues at all; actually, he was very happy with how rigid the whole setup felt. Of course, the stiffness also comes from the Tempo connections and the front wing itself.
On the other hand, I think this mast is really optimized for the Tempo range. Maybe they added a bit of margin in case they release something like a Tempo 900 later, but personally I wouldn’t put something like a Fireball 1350 on it.
I also had the chance to try the F4 Orca 685 yesterday with the AX 75 mast.
It’s not easy to get hold of F4 gear here in France, as there seems to be only one distributor and the brand is still not very well known.
The glide is really impressive, and I’d definitely add the AX mast to the list of reference masts. With my 95 kg, I think going bigger than the 685 might start to be a bit much, but for lighter riders I’m sure the 800, maybe even the 900, could still work really well.
I’m also very curious to see this new mast with the titanium base!
The AX 75 is just barely stiff enough for me at 95kg on the orca 800 and I would personally prefer it a little bit stiffer. But it’s workable. On the smaller foils it’s fine. A very nice slippery mast though.
