One-Lock problems

Anyone have trouble breaking their One lock cords or having stiffness issues? I ride for Slingshot at my local shop and have broken 4 of these so far and also have to periodically go into the beach and make sure it’s tight. The shop thinks I’m not taking care of them but I always make sure to rinse the foil, take it apart etc. I feel like I can’t be the only person dealing with this problem. Anyone dealt with a similar issue?

I have noticed that over time I had to tighten the lever to achieve a more rigid connection but I have yet to break the cord.

I can see that happening, they do supply you with an extra cord which means they must be aware of this possibility.

Unlike you, I am not really taking care of my foils and I’ve been using the same One-lock setup 95% of the time for almost a year now, frequently taking apart.

I’ll have to reach out to Slingshot when I get to a point I have no more slack in the lever cord to tighten the tail properly. Probably something as simple as a shorter cord will do the trick.

How did you break your cords? was it over-tightening the lever to achieve a more rigid connection?

Interesting, I’ve only tightened it when I felt like it got too loose, and I followed instructions on not over tightening it, but maybe I still am? Hard to say because I’m only tightening it when I can feel that it’s clearly loose and my front wing is literally jiggling haha

And yeah that’s how I broke the cords, just trying to get it to the right tightness level and then pop, a couple of the others just kinda deteriorated

I have a feeling Slingshot are aware of this possibility. would be interested to hear what solution they offered if you contacted them.

I agree, I contacted them and will report back

You are a team rider (get for free or at at discount) and are bitching about the product!!

First, should post pics if you want trouble shooting on the forum, otherwise just a rant or seeking affirmation that it’s not just you!

Second, perhaps you are trying to make up for some slop in your system by overtightening it? Dyneema will stretch and you’ll need to adjust the tensioner at some point, but maybe a foil part or someting isn’t correct and that’s why you need to crank it?

Or is the cord breaking at the fitting?

Or should you contact Slingshot and report back to the forum once it’s sorted out!

I’m not bitching, just looking for insight on why this may be happening, isn’t that what this forum is for? I did reach out to them and am waiting on response. Was also curious to see if anyone else is experiencing these problems.

I’m curious to see if anyone else is having issues too…lots of people raving about the time saving convenience on FB (I don’t mind putting my 2 M8’s in personally).

I see less about the actual foils (with what seems like no stoke on this forum or seabreeze about Slingshot foils, AFAICT)

When you say that you have broken 4 of them already, can you be specific.

There were some early tails that the manufacture removed too much carbon from the notch. The notch where the latch engages. That caused some latches to release during usage and complete planes to be released and lost.

In reference to stiffness, are your referring to the mast? What mast are you riding?

I’m a slingshot team rider in Australia I have the first One-Lock

That was sent the me by Fred Hope.

I ha e been foildriving the system for nearly two years.

I’ve still not had to replace one dynema lines. I do test and feel the adjustment every session.

I’ve got two main wings I use the most I don’t wash them and only ride in salt water.

My 2 cents.

There are scan codes on the foils that take you to the onelock page that has all the how too articles.

You can also make a larks head in the line to shorten the line. The system was built with the latch item and the fail point thats why it’s made of softer material

. The issues I’ve had was my glide 725 didn’t fit into the collar well, 5 minutes of wet sanding and it’s perfect.

I’m only 80 kg and have not had stiffness issues. I ride the 82 HM masts. Reach out to Fred Hope on his social he’s super relaxed and easy to chat with.

Hope you get some resolution.

With the larks head in place the line became too short for me. The lever would not reach the tail. Did you ever try it? If so, please post some pics.

Did you get tot the bottom of it? Any insights from Slingshot?

I reached out to Fred today, but he hasn’t got back to me yet. in this clip around the 5.51 mark he talks about the one lock latch line. https://share.google/WNrZnj9Hn3XEQDZPv

I personally have never broken one, my glide 925 ( two years old and the demo one in Australia for a while is still on its original line). I gotta admit I’ve never larks headed one, however, I don’t think Fred would be putting it out there if it couldn’t be done.
