Para wing prone board

I think a lot of it is conditions based and yeah, I think for the gorge that’s the play. Be massively overpowered, stow the wing, surf your face off strapped.

For my conditions, I just don’t see where the parawing slots into my program - part of why I want it to work with my prone board - so it’s not a $2k investment.

What I WANT is a replacement for winging. I’d love to get rid of my wing board and all my inflatables, and just have my prone setup and some parawings. That’s my dream really!

Replace your wings and wing board with a FD Gen 2. Done and done.

FD doesn’t work well when the wind approaches 20 knots, too hard to get back upwind. 16 knots is my maximum comfortable wind speed for going upwind in chop.

I went through a lot of hard work to lose 30 pounds. I don’t want to buy the foil drive and undo all that overnight!

For real though the foil drive doesn’t really fit into our program here. It’s just not as necessary as it is in deeper water energy. Also, I am poor!

I think for doing downwind runs on a prone board the parawing is fully viable, especially if you have bumps to help you take off.

For upwind downwinding though I think it’s not going to work that well.

I’m using mine on a 5’8" x 19" at 85L and I’m 73 kg and it’s a good fit.

It gets better once you get used to how it pulls. Goes up wind as well as an average wing when you ride in the appropriate wind for the size. Small sweet spot for sure though.

In line with this thread, Patrice(gong) recently posted some tech talks. Apparently the double skins pull like a truck and you could definitely use a sinker(he does). Too bad you can’t pack those down while riding. For the single skins he confirmed the consensus guidance that a stable mid length close to neutral vol is recommended.

Thanks for the flag! Sounds interesting. I think this is the link for others - but it’s in french, have to rely on Youtube subtitles if you don’t speak it.
