Parawing second wing size advice

Hi all,

What would be the best second wing size down from a 3.5m (frigate). Getting overpowered from around 25 knots on the 3.5 but a bit worried 2.5 will not have enough bottom end…..riding midlength boards so not able to taxi while waiting for gusts of wind. Anyone got advice on the bottom end performance comparatively between theses sizes?

I only have a 4.7m Frigate so I can’t speak to smaller but I’m 75 kg and I can handle my 4.7 up to 25 knots even gusting to 30, the key is to harness in and point upwind. Added bonus was hitting 40° upwind angles, it’s not all that comfortable and once you unhook to jibe it’s a real struggle but with a 3.5m I’d imagine you could go well higher. I also think a 2 point harness helps a lot when really juiced up.
My 4.7m covers me from 9-25 knots. (but it’s not fun at 9, need 10 to make upwind not suck)

Not saying not to get the smaller wing though, just providing my take on the range with a good harness setup.

You can definitely go for the 2,5m, I have a very comfortable overlap between the 3m and 4m. I asked my F one dealer about what size down he recommended for me and he thought that the 1,9m would be perfect.

I also think that you should be able to get some more top end out of the 3,5m though!

Thanks, there is definitely room for improvement which should help my comfortrange improve. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks, yes there is more top end in the wing, I will hopefully match skill with performance of the equipment more as I ride more.

Thanks for the reply.

you should get a bit more than 25 kts before getting OP on the 3.5 unless you pretty light I can hold my 4m frigate upwards of 25 easy but Im a heavier rider, are you using a harness helps heaps upwind, maybe a 3.0 but has to be nuking for a 2.5
