Any ideas how to solve it? Seems like it really doesn’t need to be bumped, people should be sending direct messages if they want to know whether something is sold.
I like having the old threads showing what had been sold for what price, etc. So I’m not sure we should have people deleting threads when things sell.
Maybe there is a way for a original poster to mark things sold without having to make a reply and put it back on the new topics list?
Or maybe we can lock classifieds for responses other than the original poster after a certain time?
I personally think all “for sale” threads should be locked so only the poster can add - users who want something should DM - and maybe Posters should also be able to mark as sold without bumping the thread.
I don’t know how this forums settings work - I’m sure there’s something that an admin could do - but I’m not going to put it on Eric to know all that so if it gets done great, if not whatever.
For all the users out there STOP REPLYING TO OLD FOR SALE POSTS!! Use the GD DMs!
It does also suck that you can’t mark as sold without bumping. If something is ages old and sells I’m content letting it fade into oblivion rather than mark, bump, and spam everyone but then some goober throws up a comment 3 months later!
So - what’s your take on the other part of that equation? As an OP who just bumped at least two old posts to refresh visibility on items I’m still trying to sell…I’m curious what you think appropriate etiquette is.
This plugin looks good, block responses on classified posts, force DMs. The poster can update with SOLD in the title ideally but with this it won’t matter
Best practice is for sellers to edit/append Post Title to SOLD when sold.
Agree with tkallday33 that responding to posts is useful.
The classified section started July 2022, I don’t know that I would describe that as really old.
