Progression 125 Reviews/Tuning Tips

How does it compare to lift 120 for pumping around to get waves?

Half dozen prone sessions now on the 125 w/shiv tail. It’s my go to for prone now as long as the waves aren’t too infrequent.

The wing is significantly different than the other progression wings in pumping. It’s a true high aspect and requires finesse with pumping. I ride the P170 a lot and that wing doesn’t penalize sloppy pumping technique, you can stay up for long periods easily with any style of pumping (dolphin, tapping, low or high mast, etc). The P125 needs good technique (high and tap) and is harder to dig out of a hole. True beginners will have a harder time with this wing.

It definitely has a really nice low stall speed and awesome glide which is bizarre when you look at how small it is. This allows you to set up for big turns and wraps.

The takeoff speed necessary is much higher than the P170 as expected but not hard to get up even on thigh high waves. This is more noticeable in dismal surf conditions and definitely noticeable when winging. In Florida (where I live) you will need another bigger wing in your quiver for the microscopic surf days.

Turning is exceptional and breaching as well. Rides very intuitive and I was pulling roundhouses immediately. No foam hits to judge that aspect.

Put it at least 2 cm farther back in the box compared to the other prog wings and then adjust from there.

Highly recommended for prone and winging.
