Headed to Punta mita late june, Anybody got any insight on locals guides to connect with , spots , or any other recommendations ?
I will be proning, looks like a huge foil playground just wanna avoid rocks. Staying a little east of La lancha at a resort with wife
Ive surfed down there a little bit, but no foiling. Some of the best (and least crowded) breaks are only accessible through the gated part Punta Mita - BUT some locals connected me with a boat driver who goes by foxsurfpuntamita on Instagram and he took me out to those breaks and I had a blast out there. It was only $20-40 depending on how many people are going and he doesn’t necessarily stick around the whole time, but he is a reliable guy. There is a wave at the point called El Faro that would have been amazing with a foil. There needs to be some decent swell so that it is breaking deep enough (it gets reefy / rocky inside), but its a really long soft right when its good. There are some other spots he knows out there too depending on swell direction.
La Lancha can be very good, but gets a bit crowded. The public beach at Punta de Mita can also be good with enough swell.
Based on your description - are you staying at Bolongo? I stayed there too.

We are Staying at Susurros de Corazon, looks like a few really good waves out front but def wanna explore around. I hear the whole zone is amazing
If you go out there with Fox, I’d probably bring another non foil board out there with you too, just to have the option in case the swell isn’t big enough. With a foil you’d need enough swell so that the wave breaks deeper than the reef section (it doesn’t take a lot, so its not uncommon). You can’t scope it out from shore so you need to get out there to see the conditions. Fox has boards too if you aren’t traveling with one.

Yes def going to rent something from him, i still regular surf alot so will just do whatever is best. Not trying to foil shallow reef kegging waves , or surf crowds

The outside of La Lancha will work in front of Four Seasons. Just need 2-3 with some decent energy there are a couple of rocks, but easily seen/avoided.

Warm water and sheet glass all day. I tried to tow with JP Tron but he didn’t have a running ski while I was there.
I wondered about that jetty wall when we were headed out to dive. Is it plenty deep?

That zone picks up very little swell. I have been a number of times and its typically a fraction of the size of everywhere else…Hope you score a larger swell so that it gets in there.
Takes very little for foiling, coming from Northeast florida the energy is VERY low so its probably plenty more
Went there a few years ago in the fall, had some of my first successful prone glides at anclote, West of that pictured harbor I believe. Water was a wee bit murky/sandy when I was there, making it impossible to see rocks at La launcha so just surfed there, but smaller at anclote and less turbid so could sorta see the rocks, still hit a few, though they seemed to be focused at the takeoff. Was about 2’ Max when I was there. I foiled when it was too small for the longboarders, but I imagine you could sit on the outside when it’s bigger and stay out of the way.

Got connected with Adam and punta mita ocean sports and had a incredible experience.
towed some outer reefs and was pumping head high + long period groundswell. proned the spot a few days but the 500m paddle out was alot of work, much more fun to tow. Also went surfing at la lancha and was tons of fun on a regular surface board. Pretty awesome zone, apparently its been pumping there but is normally smaller just got lucky with timing. Locals said it can get good on west swells
