PWC/Jetski Recommendations

Those with skis, any recs on minimum requirements you look for when picking a ski? I’m after an entry level ski for towing. Just want to have enough power for towing up, we really don’t get scary size surf, and have spots with good channels so battling white water isn’t much of a problem. Seadoo sparks too small?

Sparks are definitely to small. I got a new seadoo 130 gtr last year. Works great with the sled attached. Definitely more than enough power for towing. I don’t think much more is needed unless you plan on going in heavy water situations. I live on the east coast of the US. And this ski is more than capable of handling those conditions

Hi @FoilFlop !

I’m not an owner, but my friend does have one Seadoo I think it’s the 90hp 3 seats version. It’s good enough for us for our beach breaks. We are both around 70kgs thou, I have another friend who’s 85Kg and it’s also towing with one of those. Since we don’t have marinas or docks, being the spark the lightest weight it’s easier to put it in the water from the trailer between two.

These are our waves, medium size I would say, but also the GoPro always makes them look even smaller.

We can even play with them very in the inside to do also de camera thing, and since they are compact, are kind of cool to go thru waves and stuff.

Hope this helps.

Find a Yamaha FX cruiser to test. I wouldn’t consider any other naturally aspirated ski. The neutral/reverse system is great.

Any Yamaha tr1 will do the job for what you are saying. Must have a sled in the back ( can be inflatable). I have one vx deluxe, sometimes towing with 2 foil riders simultaneously for tanquer waves. Sea waves no more than 1 foil rider. 80kg plus each rider and more than enough power. Good luck and have fun
