Managed to tear a rift in my orbit and tried to fix it with my trusty spinnaker tape. Problem is it doesn’t stick. I’m guessing it’s the coating.
Anyone else torn their pw and fixed it successfully? Can I remove the coating where the tape goes, and should I? Or is this a job for the local guy with the sewing machine?
Twin skins can be an absolute bitch to repair, I’ve done quite s few. You need to gain access to both sides of the repair area for a sewing machine to work. This may require disassembly of the wing at the trailing edge to gain access.
Try a dot of super glue in a small area, see if it sticks. If so you could put a bead around the patch to secure it.
Tear-Aid might stick better than the ripstop tape
