Trench Board Without Foil Drive?

I ve been riding the 54L for more than a year and while it feels amazing in the surf i have always struggle to take off when the sea is bumpy or there are currents crossing. Is not a matter of skill anymore its just that this board negative side is that.

Now i ride the armstrong ML75 and i am not coming back..its just so fun and been able to use a smaller wing is a must now.

I wanted to use the KT with the FD but the trench is to small for the slim battery but i would like to try it for prone and the 85 mast.

I havent tried the 75 L ML in prone either, it looks too big but with the FD i would like to give it a go.

I’m a big fan of those MLs. I have a 65 that I use for winging even in light winds, and a 55ML that I prone and wing. I want a 45ML, but at that point I feel they get too narrow. I wish the 45ML was still 18” wide. I’m planning on picking up a 36L Surf instead. (More than likely). If a used 45ML comes along I’ll pick one up. But I don’t want to shell the cash for a new one in case I don’t like how narrow it is.

I tried the 65 and is a toy but here in the Canary Islands when the wind picks up the sea gets rough .First I though i would only be using the 75 with low winds but now I use it all the time.

Hows your experience proning the 55? I feel like the 75 is too much but i love the swing weight when winging, I dont really know how to explain it but my prone board feels too light in the carves.

I’ve made a lot of progress with it. Catching waves easily, linking waves, etc. It feels small enough given I’m usually on wing boards. That said, I got used to winging this one all the time. I can duck-dive the 65ML in up to chest high surf, and sort of make it happen in head-high surf. But the 55ML is not problem to duckdive in even a foot overhead. (I’m about 80-82kg).

Popping up on a narrow board takes some getting used to… even coming from surfing shortboards where a performance SB is about 19’“. I also feel these longer boards don’t like whitewater chip-ins. I think it’s much harder than on a regular prone board.
