Unifoil - any news on a new small PROGRESSION wing?

Dear Uni/Eric -
Looking for a “next size down” Unifoil PROGRESSION front wing for next tow trip.
I sooo love my 125 progression but need a next size down for higher speeds and bigger waves
I do have the vyper 90 but not really giving me the right feelz.
anything coming anytime soon? gonna have to go another brand come sept if not available…really want Uni.
thanks!

Buy a used 125. Heavily chop it. That’s what Eric G is riding according to some podcasts

I had been long hoping more for an 8.0 82 ish type mid aspect surf wing like f one sk8 kind of.

It kind of seems like Unifoil is just a one wing wonder at this point (progressions) and Im wondering if theyre trying to innovate anymore. Those have a very specific use case design in mind as described a lot here, theres a lot of gaps in Unifoils range and I dont think anyone wants to buy old Hypers or Vypers anymore. Kind of pushed me to Cedrus since I didnt like being locked into a brand not knowing if theyd ever make a wing for a certain condition I wanted to cover

The Progression 125 looks sick.
The design elements that went into the Progression series I think would be very suited for smaller tow foils. Most of the tow foils I have seen do not look easy to ride. Eric G looking good on his chopped p125: https://youtu.be/uYmasOOgCY8?si=Jlt9At1M8pAmdt3S

Can you elaborate on what feelz the Vyper90 is lacking?
What other foils are you considering?

Vyper 90 for me has poor pump and not very fast, just doesn’t feel loose and lively and hard to get it going real fast at times. Been towing cabrinha 650 and armstrong ma625 foils, feel so much faster, responsive, and rippy.
Prob buy Fone sk8 650 as an alternate if uni can’t provide, based on readings. I hope a test run is in the cards before I pull the trigger.

I’m going to switch also if they don’t release something soon. Just wish uni didn’t drip feed wings to market.

I can confirm that a smaller progression is coming soon.

You think a used viper 90 for $200 is worth it? One for sale by me. I went a tow set up and I’ve allready got a couple katana masts.

You know anyone selling?

Hi Baboom -
i will sell mine to you for 200 (if you are ok with shipping).
in good shape used 1 week in costa rica a few months ago.
can catch up on my cel 9o45834o44 florida time. john

I have a chopped H2 170 in case anyone’s interested.

thanks @johnnydodd but pulled the trigger on one out here in Hawaii right after I posted. $250 for the v90 w/ long fuse and shipping from Honolulu to Kauai. seemed like a deal I couldn’t pass up. :fist_right:

thanks for the reply Eric . is this top secret stuff or is a size divulgible?

Not to pin you down but are we talking days, weeks, or months? Inquiring minds want to know.

Probably unrelated but this is an epic snap and I don’t recognise that foil

Hmm, that could be his chopped P125 but it does look a little different. If not it looks kind of like what I’ve been hoping for the span looks noticeably shorter

Vyper 2.0?

It looks like the same foil he’s riding in this video. 125 chopped. Seems the stickers were sanded off or it might be a Clifford custom. Mast also looks non-standard.
I wont be surprised if the Vyper gets an upgrade this year. Current Vypers are pre-Covid design.

But to be brutally honest, i don’t believe my foiling skills will ever catch up with what the current Progression and Vyper wings are capable of. Recently spent 2 weeks on my ‘old’ 130 Vyper in solid point waves. It was magic. Been on P170 and P140 daily for over a year and have not scratched the surface of their capabilities.

I duno the vyper is…fine…I guess. I mean I’ll wing with it but it always seems like kind of a dog prone and doesn’t really breach at all. It’s definitely missing a bunch of more modern design elements that seem like they make the new gear click.

But at the end of the day mid aspect foils (for prone) represent a really small slice of the pie. There’s really only a handful of people chasing that kind of powerful swell on the regular. For most of us even in conditions that the MA is better for we’re better off on a smaller HA because the feels are more consistent with the gear we’re riding on the regular.
