Unifoil high modulus carbon mast

Any info on new high modulus carbon mast? Any riders been testing out there?

Not much info except for the few Insta clips mentioning an “83 race” mast. Brian Finch on Instagram: "EVOLUTION 155 / 83R Hi-Mod / 4’3 FTW 25l Im very impressed with this 155. These little bumps were gutless but this 155 just lets you get busy. Tons of glide, efficiency and a carve machine. This series hits the market January 1st, happy new year!"

Foiking…!!

Hopefully they stick with the minimalist graphics on the mast. They don’t pay me enough to have a billboard sized advertisement on my equipment :joy:

But it makes me feel like a Nascar driver going around in circles

I’d like to know how thin the profiles are.

So………

Katana : fast but flexy
P800: stiff but slow
Race HM: very fast but flexy
Torque: kinda fast and kinda stiff

Got it👍🏼

Great job marketing team and Engineers!

And the standard carbon and alu masts? Also, is “deluxe high modulus” the same as ultra high modulus?

You forgot “DELUXE!”

Me too. Anyone know the chord depths on the progression or katana to compare?

Katana 83 is 148mm near the base (top corner of the logo) and 114.4mm at the fuse (center line of the arrow logo)
So about 2cm less cord on the race masts compared to Katana. That’s huge.
I can’t imagine the race masts would be more flexy than Katana. Equally the Torque should be better than Progression in every way. Same for Evolution vs Progression wings it sounds like. I guess that will meen the end of Progression and Katana sales which is a real pity, but that’s “evolution” for you.

It’s hard to understand why many foil brands adopt so confusing product naming strategies and versioning.

Brands using simple naming such as “race” / “surf” and the humble V1, V2, versioning system are really lowering the barrier to entry to their brand.

Ha ha I totally agree, just look at the mast marketing by duotone, it’s a complete mess, 3-4 different options and testing the market with base plates that make no sense to me i.e quick release (Aero Mid QM SLS 5 screws instead of 4). It’s like they are out of touch with the industry, or penalising the cohorts that aren’t 75kg. I was considering them as an option for my next brand as I like the new mast to fuse option, but they made the decision for me not to invest my money with them as they have no clear product direction.

One would think but that’s not what their description says and if they come out and say it’s less stiff than the progression then that leads me to believe it’s a lot less stiff? I wouldn’t say the P800 is known to be a super stiff mast either?

Deluxe!

Thanks for sharing. I agree, that’s a huge change. Looking forward to hearing some independent reviews on the mast when they come available. Sounds like the new mast plus the evolution foils could give me a reason to try unifoil again!

So we have done the 75 & 83 Race & tbe 80 Torque mast all and high modulus carbon. there are several different types of high modulus carbon that is used in our industry. Due to the change in the material, the mast inherently will be stiffer.
These masts will not be as stiff as the progression 800 due to having a thinner profile and cord. These mast will be stiffer than the katanas. The race mast we recommend that you ride a Foil smaller than a 155 on it. These mass will be much more efficient & faster than the progression and the katana masts.
We will continue to stock the progression 800 mast as it pairs well with wings bigger than 155.

We are excited for 2025 and the projects we are working on and can’t to share them with everyone soon!
