What is the ultimate wing board?

If you could have one board for winging, would you go with a mini downwind shape? Short and squatty? Somewhere in the middle? I’m looking for a board that gets up in lighter winds and can still jump. I’m 170lbs. but my only board with strap inserts is 33L. Would 60L + be a bummer to try and jump? I’m like 40 and just want to bust a few airs here and there, nothing too wild.

Check the Omen Emissary.

I got the 55L for my 68kg and FoilTheGreats has the same board for his 80kg or so. He got the strap option and jump his.

One of those board you forget you have a board kind of feel.

My primary board that is my single board quiver for travel is a 60L Appletree Slice v3 and I love it. Really nice small board feel, jumps great, surfs great, and hull is relatively efficient for lighter days as long as I’m using a big enough wing.

I’m 80kg. Board works down to 12-13 knots with a 1050 foil and 5.5m wing (my biggest). If anything I’d add a couple inches of length and trade a little width, but I’m very happy with it just the way it is. I have a couple other boards (60L 6’0 mid for wing and Pwing and 85L 6’4 primarily for pwing) but the v3 gets by far the most use for me.

I would get the omen emissary or kt super k v2. I’m currently riding a 60l kt custom that I ordered before the emissary and super k v1 hit the market, but the shape i asked for is basically the super k v2. The omen boards have a lot of design time going in to making them as efficient as possible for the volume but they weigh slightly more than the kt because of the waterproof foam and more durable construction

I’ve ridden a k2 and while it’s a great board and very efficient I’m not sure I’d want to jump it. Narrow width isn’t going to be stable on landings and they have a little more length than I’d want at any given volume. Maybe just my personal preference but wouldn’t be my board if jumping was in the picture.

I wouldn’t jump any of the DW style shapes. These are generally glassed lighter. They’re not going to hold up and since they’re hotter items at the moment you’ll be loosing more resale $$$ when you crush the deck. Find a cheap bar of soap 60 liter for jumping. At my 200 lbs my old bar of soap was great for jumping, if there’s enough wind to boost there’s enough wind for the bar of soap vs the light wind DW board.

I have a DW style mid length board as my go-to wing board at the moment and I don’t jump it. I DO jump my inflatable DW board for fun sometimes and it’s fine for that.

Adventure Sports Miami has an old cabrinha mode 48 liter for $200. Jump the crap out of that
