First ride and impression on the 800 is outstanding. Spent a couple hours parawinging it in poor conditions and found it to be much more fun and playful than the 900 but far more forgiving and mellow to pump than the 700. Got my first parawing tacks on it (hideous looking but complete) and the added speed of the 800 vs my Silks made other parawing maneuvers like Heineken gybes that much more automatic and stylish. Surfs great when powered by the parawing as well as when stashed. A little fast for shin high bumps unless you’re really working it. No issues with tip breaches. Looking forward to riding it in some legit conditions.

The 800 looks pretty tempting. What fuse and tail were you on Bryan?

Any sightings of Silk updates?

I was on the regular fuse (which I strongly prefer since I ride the 75cm skinny mast) and almost exclusively ride the Ultra Glide 41 tail now which is what I tried this on.

No sightings of new Silk foils at AWSI. The Pure 600 was the only new foil on display and that’s not for me. I got my hands on the blackbird mid (on the beach) and would absolutely love a demo on that. I also handled the new AFS Stream wing on the beach which felt worthy of a rip on the river too.

Rode the 800 at the Hatch yesterday. Maybe 22 knots of wind and standard summertime Hatch swell at thigh high in the good spots and squishy rollers in other spots. The 800 was phenomenal. Still small and fast enough to have loads of fun on but added size over the 700 really allows you to relax with your bump reading. You can focus a lot more on making the best turns knowing that you will be forgiven with the pump and glide to get back to a power source. I spent a lot of time NOT pumping, just milking the glide on this foil and was wildly impressed. Hoping for some big parawing days out east this weekend. Also looking forward to the easterly winds that give us ocean swell in the Gorge in the months to come to fully understand this foil. At the moment, as someone who is pretty die hard on the Silk foils, I’m having a hard time thinking why the 800 isn’t an excellent compliment to a Silk quiver.

Nice that fits exactly with what I’ve been looking for…

Wondering how the 800 fits with the silks … how much low end do you give up relative to the 1050?

How does it compare to the 850?

I haven’t tried it much in flatwater with a wing which is where I, personally, can really feel the low end difference in foils. In swell, with a wing or parawing, it pops up great and is immediately milking even the small bumps which feels like the 1050.

Enduro 800 regular fuse vs Silk 1050 both with UG41 tail:
The ride feel and turning characteristics feel very similar, the 800 is just a lot faster and a lot better in the dead zones. You can see this as a pro or con IMO. The 1050 really sits in the pocket nicely when there is small swell in the Gorge allowing you to really show off, and perform. The 800, being faster, will outrun most small swell. You need to be on your game more than you do with the 1050 BUT, when you do run out into the flats it’s easier to recover the 800 because of the speed to get back to swell.

Enduro 800 regular fuse vs Silk 850 both on 132 tail:
Not a similar ride. The tail to front wing span ratio is very different between these two foils and the Enduro 800 really moves with a pivot, similar to the 1050 w/132, where the Silk 850 has far better roll and drive with this tail. The 800 has crazy versatility and forgiveness whereas the 850 is outrageously fun but you do need to be aware of what you’re doing when riding it.

It may be worth noting that I also think the Enduro 700 shares more ride characteristics with the 1050 than the Silk 850. I know a lot of people think the 700 and 850 are closer but I don’t agree. The longer I have the whole Silk lineup the more I confirm the 1050, 850, and 650 are all quite unique in their performance and how you can adjust them with tails.

I only ride the 75cm skinny mast so all my notes are from that.

I hope they bring out the 600 Enduro soon. :crossed_fingers:

Me too.

I’ve chopped my 900 and love it. Tempted to chop my 700 also but would love to try a 600 first.

I chopped my E1100 after an unfortunate parking lot incident. It feels much slower and less maneuverable for some reason. Maybe I did the chops at weird angles? How did you chop yours and did you round the tips or keep them ā€œsquaredā€. Cheers!

I haven’t chopped any foils but most likely the squared tips are causing more drag and weird flow separations at the tip angles

I cut mine square and directly in parallel to direction of travel(squared from fastener holes.

How much span is left on the 900? Was wondering about an AR8 made from an enduro actually

Its 932mm span now. 994 originally.

An AR of 8 might be a little over zealous. But if you chop one, I’ll try it out.:rofl::rofl:

I have my 1300 and 1100 chopped square at the ends, no rounding. Both ride great, very little difference that I could feel - no better or worse.. from the photo, probably the same amount as yours. The tips had gotten all messed up because I don’t really baby them.

Recently picked up the E1000. Right on the money for solid surf Supfoiling at 98kg all in(me, 5mm wetsuit, leash.
