I don’t think axis original is using anything better than what’s being offered by the copycat, especially the one that has the logos on it exactly like the original. What happened here is that either axis switched suppliers and the old one isn’t happy and thus selling behind their backs. Or one supplier leaked on purpose the diagram to another supplier who is now making the copies without the logo. Happens quite frequently in china for any industry. The only problem is that if you’re gonna copy something, can it at least be better than axis. On the bright side you’re not suffer that much of a performance hit with fakes vs the real thing. It’s not like the real thing has set a high bar for standard. https://youtu.be/E98mhD0-X_w
They are not fake just did not pass quality control.
The risk you take buying one is that it could just be cosmetic like in the pic or it could be wrong shape, thickness, profile or something that effects performance.
I buy future type fins off Ali express and mostly just have to sand the base to fit properly but sometimes they are wrong angle or not symmetrical and totally useless but they only cost £20 a set no way I’d risk 400
Ali Express prices are from resellers. You can go factory direct if you know how and get the whole set of whatever, for around US$500. Or design your own foil and have them make it.
really? If anyone has actually done this, I’d love to chat
I’m going to try. See how we go. I’m looking for a wide HA wing
with a lot of camber.
So many things to speak of with this scenario. Here’s one, without using High Modulous Carbon those ART knockoffs will be hot garbage, especially in turbulent water. These companies wont take $ away from OEM, they capture another demographic IMHO
So they don’t design the foil. They’ll design the logo . They want a 3D design of the foil and they can make with the carbon cloth desired. Can be done by 5R.
