Why do you think ROAM is axis compatible? A copy of the axis system yes, but when I asked them they told me that they weren’t compatible…
Ah I just presumed they were, as I would have thought it rather silly not to be compatible in their position, but that is my take. Certainly looks like an axis fuse clone
Yes too close to Axis design for my liking… I know there are only a few ways to make these joints robust but this looks like and out and out copy just changing some key dimensions… not great from an IP/design rights perspective and just looks like blatant copying.
These are the axis foils. Not similar they are the exact thing. It’s important to remember that none of these companies actually manufacture their own foils in China. It’s all subbed out to a Chinese manufacturer who is More than happy to ship a few extra units by swapping on different paint. This already happened with various slingshot foils years ago
they really made a fat mess with this, seems like a pity on the whole.
Fwiw, Konrad seems to have a few new alternatives, I wonder what their approach is
For Roam the fuse is not compatible with red or black Axis, just similar. The tails are compatible though I believe.
Also Roam makes 2 front wings:
- exact copy of the Axis 1310
- unique 1700 mm span 2800 sqcm wing (probably based off elongating a 1310 but hey, it’s not a foil Axis manufactures)
