Axis Frank DW boards

Ok, who wants to talk about this new board model collab? Have any of you tried it and how does it compare to the usual suspects from KT, Kalama, etc.? :call_me_hand:

The marketing suggests that there is a few key details that separate these boards from what’s available on the market? It suggests a revolutionary rocker line designed to increase board speed and effortlessly release from the water surface for extremely smooth takeoffs?

Can anyone educate me on how this revolutionary rocker line works on these boards ?

Thanks for sharing the review however I’m still not educated on how this revolutionary rocker line works on these boards?

I struggle with these reviews from YouTube guys that possibly lack knowledge and understanding to communicate how the design elements actually work and are just regurgitating the marketing spiel

Not sure if it’s marketing hype but I seem to remember reading or watching something that explained the stability by comparing a log and a banana. A floating log with zero rocker spins/rolls very easily. A board with pronounced nose and tail rocker (think ) will have better roll resistance because as you roll, the nose and tail volume provide buoyancy and therefore stability. All this being said, I have zero sup foil experience. Ha

What’s funny about that analogy is that a banana will literally have negative bouyancy. As it rolls, the floaty part in the middle shifts to the high side causing it to roll more. A banana wants to float on its side.

But we are learning the counter-intuitive lesson that the ability to balance on a foilboard doesn’t come from just “righting moment” from the board shape. Righting moment helps for sure, but a big factor is the “damping” from the big mast/foil in the water slowing down any roll motion enough that we can react easily.

Anyone tried the Armstrong Ocean Board as well? Curious how the two boards compare.

Increased tail rocker allows the board to “porpoise” more easily. That in turn lets you accelerate with less effort.

The trick seems Frank is thicker than other boards especially in the foil box, and more thiner in the front and back end, then the center of gravity will more lower than normal design.

Kalama has also come out with a new shape. No more Barracuda, new design is the Gator
