Has anyone ridden them back-to-back and would like to share their opinion? I’m curious which one might be better for dock start learning at 105 kg. Thanks!
I’ve ridden both — mostly the 1400v2, but lately the 1725s. Code lifts earlier at low speed, especially on the start, while Axis seems to offer better lift once you’re up to speed and allows for a shorter, snappier pump. Axis tracks better in a straight line but is harder to pump through turns. Code, on the other hand, has no trouble pumping through the carve — and the 1725 has insanely good turning for such a big foil.
I have no experience on the 1400v2 but I did own a 1300v2 for a while and I’ve done 3 laps on a friend’s 1725 S, I’m 75 kg. So compared to the 1300v2 (which is closer in spec to the 1725 S than 1400v2):
I found the low end to be similar, ease of start to be similar.
Both foils turn very well (I hear the 1400v2 turns a fair bit worse than 1300v2) but the 1300v2 also tracks very well when you want to go straight. The 1725 S kind of always wants to turn, much like the F-one Jam 1600. Personally for flat water I find the constant desire for the foil to turn a bit annoying.
I would say they have similar efficiency so the 1400v2 should have a decent edge there over the 1300v2 or 1725 S.
The 1725 S is much lighter and more expensive.
Both foils work well for LW parawing.
The Code 1725s turns better and allows someone learning to pumpfoil the opportunity to correct if they take off at a bad angle and start turning where the PNG 1300 wants to fly straight and will buck the rider off more often than not as they try to correct. At 85 kilos myself I think the 1725s might be on the small side for a beginner that is much over this weight unless they are already very good at pumping and only need to learn the dock start phase. If you are new to Pumpfoiling and dock starting I would think a lager foil will be much more helpful in the learning process.
thanks for the insight guys, really useful info
What did you go for? Im also weighing up the 1725s vs PNG 1400 v2 for deadstart and lightwind parawinging. 100kg dry.
I tried the 1725S for LW parawing recently and was very impressed by the surfy low end when going downwind but I was also equally unimpressed by how slow and draggy it was trying to get back upwind.
I also took my Takoon Pump Pro 1750 out for a LW parawing session (it was actually 14g18 so not LW for me but the bumps were tiny). Very happy with the PP1750 for LW parawing, super agile and super efficient. It doesn’t have as low low end as the 1725S and it’s not quite as surfy but it makes up for that with how it rides under power. It’s also a way more fun flat water pump wing than the 1725S (or the 1300v2).
