DW foil should be an Olympic sport

An industry at the bleeding edge of design and technical capabilities should be demonstrated on the world stage.

Yes? No? and most importantly… why?

Yes absolutely.
But, it almost isn’t comparable to what the Olympics has become. I mean, Curling and Ocean Crossings used in the same games???

Nah

They’ll do what they did to sailing sports and jam it in a box that means you need to 220lb gorilla to even compete and optimise it for TV coverage and accountants to adjudicate a box of rules

give it 2 decades to mature a bit before ruining it

Yeah, the Olympics is guaranteed to fuck it up.

just be glad there isn’t some Bullshit association you have to be a member of.

Would love it too. But DWing is not a spectator sport. Until they figure that one out it’s not going to happen. They want that :money_bag::money_mouth_face: from the ticket sales.

that orange drone company should sponsor the races and send a swarm to film

Please no. Don’t let the muggles destroy our magic. They need us more than we need them. Just look at what they have done to snowboarding. Todd Richards was rightfully claiming ‘worst slopestyle course ever’ in Livigno. The bloody corrupt IOC morons will destroy why we all fell in love with it in the first place. Terje was right all the time.

Gates. Big inflatable gates. If all you’re doing is going past water in the footage, there is no reference. We need KM markers for split times at the least. This is why dot vision is worth watching for M2O. There are markers on the map. You can see people passing things.

Yeah, the Paris wokefest was an all time low.

If they could stay away from ideology and keep their grabby hands in control…just dreaming

Anyway, i think “promoting the sport” is good for those in the industry. For the standard foiler it is not.Slowing down the gear production would actually save me from GAS , at least a bit.And look what they did to surfing, we got more room of course, plenty out there. But throw lots of people in the sea +1NM offshore in +15kt seas and Bad Things will happen often, legislators will legislate to “protect” us dimwits from ourselves.

Let sleeping dogs lie, we are growing way too fast as it is.

Don’t need, don’t want. The very best things about foiling are what it connects you to and disconnects you from.

Cue a DW foiler paddling out with epirb, VHF radio, bone conduction headphones, bluetooth speaker, phone, smart watch.

:joy: different strokes fer different folks

100% I’m so over hearing “promoting the sport”. Foiling is a small, positive community and that’s perfectly fine. Money is the only thing that’s not happy with that.
