Curious if anyone in the winging discipline as tried this combo? I’m currently on the 990 + the xxs 200 carve. Looking to boost speed while maintaining turning. Thanks for letting me know if you’ve tried this and what you think.
I did a few days ago.
I use to ride my Eagle 990 with a xxs fuse and 195 stab
I was disappointed on the ability to turn especially when tacking.
Also a little bit frustrated about speed.
I just tried the xs161w once but I can tell that speed is much better ; that carving and surfing is much more fun as it turns on a smaller circle and even allows cutback; not yet tried tacks.
What’s good is that I didn’t change any positions on my foil or on my footstraps, take off is as good ( may be better due to initial speed ) , stability is almost the same ( during the first minutes I didn’t feel any difference with the xxs+195 … until I move the the wave section of my spot ; then I appreciate the difference !)
I wish I could try the 160 to compare but I am very happy with my eagle 990/xs161w combo
