F one stab xs160 vs xs w161

Anyone that have compared side to side the f one stab xs160 and the xs w161?

I have ordered a sk8 950 with the xs160, but the seller said it comes with the the xs w161 atm and I will probably have to wait for the xs160.
I do both prone and wing, so is the xs w161 s good option?

Any feedback is appreciated.

The 141w and 161w are specifically tuned for winging. I tried the 141w prone and did not like it one bit at all. It had a very weird mix of strong initial lift/drag, followed by extremely efficient flight with very little positive/front-foot feedback. I could see it being fun for winging - which I don’t do - but not the feels I’m after for prone. I only tried the 141w, not the 161, so take it for what it’s worth. If prone is your main thing, skip it and wait for the xs160. I’ll add that the xxxs160 is my daily tail for prone and DW. You might be stoked on the xxxs version, my guess is it’ll loosen up that bigger sk8.

Thanks!
I ended up ordering the xs160.
Let’s see how it feels or if I have to find an xxxs

Where’d you find the xs160 in stock??
(I’m anxiously awaiting stateside…)

The store I buy it from ordered it directly from F one France. They told me they launched it the 23. Of May, so let’s see how fast I get it :crossed_fingers:t4:

Ahhhh, right on - let us know how you like it! Hopefully we get them soon.

I tried a couple of times to mimic the xs 200 carve mr. Godlybennets style, but i didnt like how it felt.

A good comparison would be like a a twin fin vs thruster. The longer fuse(xs) felt like a third fin, locked in and harder to swing around.

The xxxs 200 monoblock with the 950 skate felt much more loose in the yaw axis and flippy. Its also much more pitchy but i prefer that so i dont feel overpowered on steeper drops or beachbreaks from my habbit of ridding the xxxs200 soo much.

Maybe its just me, but i felt like i had to be more technical and in the pocket with the xs, whereas the xxxs was more loose. I also have the xxxs180 so im curious as to how that feels as well.

I struggle with pumping if there is current though please note*

How have you been liking the xs160? I’m going to pick up a sk8 850 to replace my sk8 950, which is a bit too big for my 165lbs. Debating between the xs160 and the xxxs180 for winging waves in the Gorge. I think the shorter fuse might be better for steep river waves. Then again, the 160 seems to be F-One’s current recommendation. Thanks.

Hi!
I just for some conditiona to try my new setup.
I have the sk950 + xs160 and 80cm 14mm mast. The setup felt really loose in tiny waves, i guess it will be nice once I get used to it

@chrisvw great feedback. Im running the 750 - 950 & Eagle X 1000 with 200XXS & 170XXS. Prone, tow, wing & absolute beginner DW…

For prone do you find the pumping distance of the 160XXXS similar to that of the 200XXS? Granted faster cadence but less drag would liven things up. I have demoed the 180XXXS & loved it.

I was looking at the 160XS but unsure which way to go… my goal is better pumping & more consistant linking.

Then theres the thought of selling 950 & going 700X or 800X … Any advise would be appreciated

I honestly only used the 200 once, just felt slow. Didn’t see any upside (at 170 lbs). Currently not convinced on the longer fuses, but could just be I’m so accustomed to the xxxs that I need to spend more time to find the magic. The 800X has really nice glide and pump, turns decent, but not what I’d grab for prone on a typical day.

Cheers @chrisvw. Im only 71kgs (155lbs) so maybe i go with the 160XXXS then. Liven those front wings up. I found the pitch stability comfortable in decent swell towing & proning on the 180XXXS. Bit trickier on the Dragonfly but thats where the 170XXS comes in. That fast slippery feeling is something. Thanks for heads up on 800👌
