It is actually ridiculous that you’re making the 800 work in bumps that small…
Very inspirational. Epic work!

Thanks man.
The X feel so effiecient and free when slighty underpowered. Since they don’t have such an agressive stall/ just dropping out on you, like the eagle or most wingfoil specific frontwings, it is relatively easy to recover them from low speeds. Being light helps also
Can you compare the amount of lift you get out of the X models compared to the original eagle. I’m on the east coast US and looking at the 1290 or possibly 1190 or the 1000X
Can you compare the lift of the x models to the regular eagles?
The Lift is relative to the speed you are going.
Eagle 1290 and 1190 are the overall easier frontwings in every aspect, getting up, stability, lower stall speed etc.
Perfect for the intermediate/ fit beginner in DW SUP or lightwind winging.
The Eagle X 1000 would be the next step or intermediate/advance DW SUP or LW winging.
hope that helps. otherwise let me know if you have more questions.
Yea that helps. Think I’m gonna start with the 1190. Thanks for the response
First impressions on the new Eagle X 600. Tested it a couple times in different conditions 15-35kts on the Baltic sea (mostly windchop) with wing&paddle.
Slightly higher but reasonable take off speed (as expected) compared to the X 700 or Eagle 790. Def needs a good downward slope to get up to speed with the paddle (with a 7’0 DW board). No problem to get up with the wing.
Feels even more effiecient on glide compared to the 700, less resistance/ drag, keeps on going when in its optimal speedrange. Less locked in feeling. Topspeed doesn’t feel that much more than 700, but average speed is noticeable higher
Stall speed is reasonable, no abrupt stalls that are not recoverable with the paddle. Still really easy to pump for it size especially compared to the 790.
Stable and predictable enough for rough and choppy conditions and so reliable on turns and carves. I can trust it 100% when breaching even with half the wing out of the water.
The wingtips are stiff, no vibrating or noticeable flex in choppy or turbulent water.
So much good info here for f-one DW users. After some insight from Lebast I took what i thought was a risk and purchased the 900 x and am very very excited after a few rides.
First pleasant surprise was just how slow this foil can go considering its aspect. It must be so close to the stall speed of the 1090 I can’t tell the difference but its glide, acceleration, and speed are a big improvement for me. It turns nicer than the 1090 and pumps a lot better for me. It accelerates quick on the pump to push over bumps that the 1090 can’t. I only ever rode the 1090 with a very chopped 200 carve tail so my comments are based on using the same tail.
I am surprised there is not more comment on them. I nearly changed brands just for DW because I thought to get great glide and speed with bottom end for my early DW ability I would have to. I now have a 1000x on the way because I think it will make many DW days enjoyable that I don’t try in now. This is based on riding in short fetch low energy bumps that i though i would need the 1290 for but the 900 is working better. The issue for me is that i am so surprised I am probably going to have to buy the 800 as i get better and can make the most of it in open ocean conditions.
@FoilMad How much do you weigh? I’m going through the same thinking regarding DW. I’m 90 kg and am wondering if the 1000 would be big enough.
I am 98kg and have been using the 900x on good days here in New Jersey and love it. Very impressed with the low end and top end, I think the 1000x will be big enough for you @bcransto
I weigh only 65kg and my experience is with full 4/3 steamer so probably closer to 70.
The best advice I had in choosing was that the 900 X paddles up easier than the 990 eagle but just not quite as easy as the 1090 but close. 1000X will paddle up easier than the 1090 but not quite as easy as 1290. The 900x easily replaces the 1090 in every way for me.
For me the surprise is that the X wings seem to have more usable bottom end compared to their competitors in similar size and aspect. Maybe the new fireballs will help axis in this area.
Its hard to draw comparisons for weight and location differences so the take aways are in the comparisons with the eagles. I think you will find the 1000x is a pretty usable wing on the bottom end, for its size, and your weight, in ocean energy. It just depends where you are on your DW journey. If you were thinking 1290 or 1190 then 1000x is just too tempting in my opinion.
Has anyone tried the eagle x with chopped wing tips?
After several months of riding, when have you used the eagle instead of the eagle x?
I’m 70kg and want another foil that pairs with my 850 sk8. Want something with more glide for proning and winging and eventually prone down wind. Was originally thinking an 890 or 790 eagle but now considering an 800 x. Would love to hear your input after a few months of riding them. Thanks
I use the Eagle X1000 which I have paired with the DW170. I’ve added a fuse extender to make it more XS/ S fuse as apposed to its factory XXS setting which suits me better for pitch control as the bumps I ride differ so much in the session because here its tidal wind over tide so you’ll start on a wind bump and you’ll hit sections that at times can double/ triple up and all of a sudden your speed has doubled like an open ocean ground swell. Its a really unusual spot with 14 meter tides so I also use V2 foil drive for obvious reasons.
I’m 84kgs, I’ve tried SS1200, E1090, SS1500 and I now go between my eagle X1000 its the perfect blend for me here at my local as its fast and stable, great low end considering its carrying close to 100kgs of weight and skate 1050
