I Have been riding the 750/850 with the c195 and 180 tails, both XXXS. I dont think i have found it to be harder to roll at top speed. Have a 160 tail i still need to try out… I did not find the sk8 750 that much harder to pump than the 850
Ok! Good to know. I am testing the XS and XXS fuses at the moment, will try to hit the top speed and see how it feels
How much do you weigh kittie808?
im light, like 62kg
Honestly, i bet you could use the 850 as an all-arounder. I have taken mine in 6’ surf and it was fine, worked well.
Hi all,
This is a great thread. Thanks for the great f-one beta. Got another question.
I’m 95kg. I’ve been DW winging on the eagle 990 for the last year. I’m addicted to the glide of this wing and love the way it skips over waves and accelerates on the smallest of bumps. It’s a bit wide to carve, but as my skills improve, it becomes more nimble. Started with the DW210, now alternate between that and the C200.
My goal for the new year is learn to DW SUP and prone in small conditions, mostly shorter period wave, but also small ground swell - will probably be out in smaller conditions more often at the beginning, 1-3 ft.
Mostly considering f-one or unifoil progression options for tradeoffs between carving, glide, pumping, good low end. Curious anyone with experience or opinions on the 1400 for learning to prone/DW/paddleup for a bigger rider like me? I demoed the 1400 once with a wing and loved the slow floaty feel and low stall speed, but it was super small conditions and didn’t get a great sense of how it glided or carved with a bit higher energy? Anyone able to compare that with the progression 200 in terms of carvability, pumping, and low end/high end?
Thank you!
Just an FYI - referring to Seven Seas 1400 in the post above.
Hi ryan, im 95kg.
I would start on the 950 sk8, as i think its amazing for turning and carving. I am struggling to keep it on foil however, as my pumping sucks and im able to get 2for1s every so often. Very tiring to be honest. But, its such a fun foil id even consider the 850 sk8 for more turnability.
So for the conversation i think if you wanted a eagle youd go for the 890.
Note, i came from the Nash 2024 1050HA. Theyre all good foils, but i have more fun with the sk8 as it gives me more confidence to turn and carve.
Yes the 7s 1400 is good for learning pronefoiling at 88kg now 85kg im using it for wave 30 to 50 pretty good to learn. Should work well dor dw too it’s gliding endlessly on small bump.
Tho you must be carefull with the wingpsan, wear protective equipment.
What does the chopped mean? I see bennets saying that too? Is it cut to the winglets on the stabilizer? Is that what he means?
yes - my understanding is they chop the winglets
There is no winglet on the f-one stab, he said he had chopped the eagle winglets and chop the dw stab to reduce de width and surface.
But in reality, he was probably riding the future eagle that will come this season with a longer fuse, smaller stab and no winglets? Will see.
What’s your chopped Stab wingspan?
10inches? / 25.4cm?
Adam chops the winglets of the current eagles. He typically uses the c200 tail chopped to 10.5 inches wide with the short fuse.
I’m riding the sk8950 with a chopped c200 to wingspan of 12.5in
Using the short fuse
Man, the pitch locks in bigtime. I struggled coming from the recent xxs monoblock c200(no chop).
It is easier to pump using the longer fuse, but the turning felt harder at max speed as well.
Im doing 12.5 due to an imaginary weight ratio i made up logic voodo for adam vs me.
Adam 178lbs
Using 10.5in
So me at 215 gave 12.68 but i said fk it and shaved off more to 12in
Hi Chris,
I’m familiar with Lift including the 90HA, which I like to wing in >20knots. Run this with a 32” M2 mast and 26 Carve or 21 Flow.
I’m looking to add a 36” mast. Very happy with lift but a 16mm HM F-One had come up cheap with 690 Eagle and 190 tail. Has me tempted.
Are you still a fan of F-One?
Thanks!
Absolutely - the 690 is such a fun wing! I prone the f-one kit and the 690 has always felt like a better version of the lift 90. Pretty much always run it with the 160 monoblock tail. Not sure how that would all translate to winging, but I imagine it would be unreal. I’m on the 80cm 14mm HM mast - which is excellent. I found the 190DW tail to be a bit tracky/stiff for my taste. I’m about 165lbs.
Let us know how you like it if you pick it up!
Anyone try the 141/161 tails for prone yet?
Not yet. But super keen. Especially if longer fuse monoblocks…
From what I have collected :
- Adam uses the S 160 chopped, XS 140 also good he says.
- Tomo Earl uses the S 160
- Mizo Fernando XS 140
- Keahi XXXS 160
The S 160/140 will not be part of the 2024 collection though. The 161/141 are tuned for winging, less low end, feedback is excellent winging but I have not heard prone yet.
